Poetry Contest

Read the title and the short poem below
Make me a fire
To warm this body
So weary, yet full of desire
To live and breathe
For my slain beloved
Vengeance courses within my veins
Mingled with my blood
Of which I will gladly shed
when I unleash my wrath

"Let my vengeance be fulfilled!"

In the sea depth lives unnatural creature,
damned for loving an evil scoundrel.
He gifted her death one sadistic day,
cast overboard bound in weights,
Consigned to this abysmal fate,
his ill will insured doom, no escape.
She cursed her cruel, deceitful lover,
before sinking in the briny waters.
With her last breath: "Master of the abyss,
hear my plea, do not let me perish,
let me avenge this act." "A covenant I make,
protect me in your mantle and with souls I will repay"

The captain paid no heed, the crew felt cursed,
too many odd deaths frayed their nerves.
Yet on this anniversary justice will met,
at midnight a terrible storm beset them,
fear this gale marked the end, to the Saints all prayed.
A lookout spots a figure on the water,
approaching, barely distinguishable
covered in algae coral and barnacles,
doubting what he beheld;
the dead girl, avenger from hell.
"I come to share the gift your captain gave me.
this, my vengeance be!"
Turbulent seas churned, wrecking the ship,
claiming 90 lives, the captain, shared their plight,
Afterwards calm as if chaos had never been,
for all watery deadly night for their sins.

Festival Of the Dead
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vfkvkxgDNns/SvEQrbMtLTI/AAAAAAAAAkg/L_5r40_EDFo/s400/Festival_of_the_dead0027.JPG
Anonymous, she was among the throng
of costumed masques revelers,
music blaring for the Festival glorifying the dead.

Joyously, they danced and drank from the communal rum bottle.
Through the crowd, they laughed
Her and the drunken American,
his hand on the small of her bear back,
the glint in his eyes at the prospect of decadence.

The devourer of the young, had no clue,
through the city streets he was lead,
She prayed to the dead for vengeance.
“Grant me strength, for I have the courage.
Grant them blindness, for I have heart;
but if you grant me none of this, know that,
I will have his life for her heart.”
.
Two years, she never felt weary of this desire.
Living and breathing her revenge
On who’d taken her sister’s heart.
He was being led now,
as he had led her to her end.

Someone shouted he turned;
the Crowd grew louder, she stuck.
The cool blade sliced his abdomen open,
 and then his throat.
Watching him fall pleading,
she stood, covered in his blood, grinning
Like the costumed revelers celebrating
the Festival of his Death.

Here is a shorter version of my poem "The Princess in the River". This version of the story fits the contest theme perfecly! I hope everyone enjoys this tragic tale of loss and vengeance...

- The Princess in the River -

Red the day of battle, as I fought well,
Red the ground: like flame from Hell.
Dark my castle: storms carrying me on!
My sword meeting the foe: time gone.
Close to victory, the foe’s act of deceit,
Took all I loved, before my feet.
An arrow through a windowpane: a note there,
Telling my princess I perished, laying her heart bare.
She saw not where I fought, could not know…
That my heart beat: pure as snow.
She leapt from her tower, to the river below,
Smiling serenely, where winds blow.
Hearing of my love’s end, madness took my soul,
Vengeance I swore, losing control.
Tales told of woods red with blood.
Beyond the forests, where I wept a flood!
My enemies’ souls to Hades I cast…
My rage loosed; no foe did last.
I returned to hold my love’s lifeless form…
Desiring only to keep her warm.
My bloody hand caressed the maid,
Gently, in the river’s shade.
Green her gown; raven her hair…
When last I saw my lady fair.
Pale was she; no blush of youth…
In death, youth is undone in truth.
Eyes full of love shut in sleep,
Dreaming of us, in paradise deep!

“My blade be sharp
My aim be true
To pierce the heart
Of my enemy
For vengeance is Mine
Not only says the Lord...”

Purging the Hate

I detest the person that you forced me to become
Regarded as being simple because I remained dumb.
This magpie-child flew in the shallowest of dreams
Eking out an existence on the edge of extremes

Now I return to haunt you in perfect disguise
The revelation too late to save you, as I materialize.
How do you evade this phantom, a Hell escapee?
Sorry to disappoint, there's no compassion within me.

The one thing that I will give to you as free advice?
See your fate reflected in the lifelessness of my eyes.
Mine will be your only vision as your body decays
Persecuting your memories with embittered malaise

Chaperoning your soul into the dream-realm of Nod
Outside the vision and control of any benevolent God
“Vengeance shall be mine” spoke an all-loving creator
You believe 'he'll' forgive you? Well, my retribution is greater

You recall the myth of the how Prometheus now suffers?
You will endure daily visitations from a million bloodsuckers
Locusts swarms descending with the force of cyclones
Ripping putrefying flesh clean from your marrow-less bones

Just at the point that your soul screams for salvation
I will happily spit in your face at your prevarication

Do you remember?
I have not forgotten
It's been long since the day you banished me
But now, I am free
I summon my friends, to give a helping hand
Dark Angels, with firey wings
Eyes, seeing into your bitter soul
I reek havoc on you
Feel the hatred
As it course through my veins
Black Magic
Poverty
I hope you enjoy my life

Sizzling Payback

As this 40 year old scotch add fuel to my fire
The fire in my belly is not to be extinguished
But ignited for justice a torch for rightousness
Light the way as I take the road less traveled
As my boiling blood is stirred up in my cardiac cauldron
Until it bubbles over and spills out on my enemies
Scolding them as they did unto my bretheren
Like you Heavenly Father I'll smite them all to hell

Bring us back..

Catching up to you
What you swore
you would never do.

Brings dark to the light
all that was'nt right!

I try to keep it in
all my partners sin..

But it cuts like a razor
making me hate her.

Please make it better
tell me you would never.

Step out of line again
cause that would mean the end!

Too much do we have
to become what we had..

My soul you have taken
my heart bitch
your breakin..

Give it to just me
all that I see..

Together we can
I thought that
was the plan..

If not
Then make it go away..

Cause me bitch
I don't play!

I'll drink your blood
like it's legal

I thought you knew
that I was lethal!

So if tomorrow never comes
remember I'm the one.

Whose last face you'll see

Before your ass
is six feet deep!
