Poetry Contest

Use the title above for a story
The silvery moonlight shone down weakly upon the shore. It was almost midnight and the breeze blowing from the sea was cold. The incessant waves crashed upon the pale sanded-shore. She stood there looking out towards the distant ocean; hugging herself, with her sarong flapping around her body. She sighed, turned away and walked towards the house under the Casuarina trees. If I can sail towards the blue yonder, I would, she thought, and wiped her gently flowing tears.

Rule 1: Read the above story and flesh it up in a poem.
Rule 2: The poem should not be more than 200 words.
Rule 3: Only one poem per person.

Inviting all DUP friends and family to participate in this competition.

At the distance, tides calm-
Blue light shimmers down,
The seas reflect,
Blow across,
And bring with it cool winds.
Waves leap and jump, reaching
For a girl on the shore.
Who's wondering eyes gaze far-
To the moons blue midnight.
Reaching out in silent dreams,
Crying for the impossible.
Basked forever to the blue moon.

The Moon Is An Eye

It's late
as I stare
at an open gate
there's silence in , the rotting fence
it's been a while since
it formed defence
I'm alive but in
a dead suspense .

In the still of night
days recall to mind
try as I might
I just can't ever unwind
I know I must fight
It gets harder though I try
there's an  owl in flight
and the moon is a big eye
we three are alike
alone in the night sky .

There's an hourly tone
a tired church bell drones alone
shaky leaves
from the yawning breeze
creatures crawl
around me on my knees
I'm down thats all
just don't rub it in
please .

Never To Let Go In Separation

Sublime uninhibited twists in time,
melodies of love heard in the distance
An unsullied silver shimmer cast by the moon
dancing on ocean tides
Shadows of two reflect in the sand
Joined hands become fused, never to let
go in separation
Salty mist blankets my flesh, a
haunting reminder of your placid touch
Memories of us, trigger my eyes to shatter
With no offer of elucidation from you,
searching the horizons blue yonder for clues

It was almost midnight as she stood on the shore
The silvery moonlight shone shadows of her broken existence
The relentless whispers of the waves
Revealing a life full of pain

The breeze blew coldness around her body,
The pale sanded shore under her feet
But neither can ease her smolder soul.

She hugs herself, thinking of the house under the Casuarina trees
It once held such sweet memories,
It now stands behind her,
in the shadows like a ghoul
filled with red and white

She stands silently against the sudden noise
watching the blue yonder,
pondering her life full of broken promises
a life full of broken dreams

With a sigh she turns away
to face her faith, the house in red and white,
her sarong flapping behind.
A wish crosses her mind of sailing toward
the blue yonder and a quiet peace
, just as the police
Push her down to the ground
to handcuff her.

Ripple

Blue moon mysticism
Reflective in isolation

Imagery is never enough
To incite the motivation

Ships behind fog lights
Lighthouse behind the rocks

Nothing behind or near me
that wont be gone
or lost

In the next crashing wave
The next high tide

Everything I stand on
Will be ripples
in mind and time

Of loves deep reason blessed and fully why they bought the house
Eternal, ever wild and raw, so poised upon this edge of land
No finer place, for Siamese hearts

There on crescents shifting sands
With hand to squeeze and wines sweet kiss
Did dance and play such games

Love in moonlights silver upon of the waters edge
The caress of burning fingers
In comfort of all falling done when both have fallen for the best

Before the day same wind and sea
That cleansed and washed their cares away
Abrupt as ancient landfall cliff, churned her life in bitter tears

Her skin cut now by midnights chiseled breeze
Stars shaken from the skies
Shards of silver light thrashing on the boiling waves

Her husbands fishing boat
That which once did sail so far and free
Ever made adventure of the sea

Levers
Ever
Poke
Our
Sides
Unsteady
Careful
Footing

Playing
Tricks
With
Lives

Each night she hugs her hollow soul
If she could sail, knew of chart and compass rhythm
She would find his unmarked place
Upon her lips her moonlight song
Across the great blue yonder
In search of lover lost at sea

Moonlit Nights

I sat in my chariot of steel
Wondering at that luminous orb of night
Pressing my hand against the glass
So as to imagine her lonely coldness
And remember touching the graceful curves of her face

It haunts me

She haunts me still

I see the full moon and I can look right into her eyes
But no matter what I say or do
I cannot get her to smile

I see the gibbous moon
And imagine her head cocked to one side
Trying to look at me as I sit and ponder the depths of defeat

I see the half moon
And see her profile just as it was when I marveled at her
and she was unaware

I see the crescent moon
And see her turning away from me
With the pain in her eyes too big to be seen

I can't see the new moon
But I'll always remember where my Moon was
What it looked like
And the light it brought to my night

My hand will rest upon the glass in the place it always does
Hoping she be full when she reappears
Needing more light than any other star can offer

Prisoner Of The Sea Dressed In Moonlight

Staring at the moon as it goes through a phase
Amazed at how it reflects off the waves
A lunar gem the accessory to my silhouette
Staring at the dark horizon my feet have gotten wet
The breeze caress my body it gives me a chill
Wondering what's beyond the horizon conjours up a thrill
My moonlit sarong wrapped around my thong
I walk the sandy carpet thinking where have time gone?
Walking back home high tides erased my footprints
Crying and dwelling on where the time went
I would charter a ship if I wasn't so poor
Make my escape by setting sail off shore
And explore the atlas the stars as my compass
Sail around the world and measure the circumference
A pity I'm not a mermaid to swim majestic waters
Instead I'm a spirit restricted by borders
