she knew it
still does
and every she since
has had her just picking
and picking and
inevitably
our seal of security
will splinter
damned womens intuition
see,
i can almost give you my all
even convince my self
but no matter how sure is the ship
once the sail is set
that anchor will come dragging along
assuring that ill never forget
her
even that her when typed
reminds me of when
i was in love
and no
not just with her
i was in love
with life
i was young and dumb
(not the dangerous dumb that would define me later)
just brilliantly and beautifully naive
i was a hippy in art school
building temples to bliss
i had a pet unicorn
i met her at a drum circle
she was in the same dress
that i would for the first time
see what it means to tell a woman
that a particular piece of a apparel
must have manifested just for her
i wrote her poetry
about the standards
you know
how her eyes were like the moon-
stella blue i called her and the moon was still luna
i studied myths and mineralogy
strictly for metaphors to massage
around her
the kicker though
is that i meant it
and as the young and dumb will do
we travelled a bit along our own paths
assuming we would merge again
as we did
but not without the chaperone of
a decade of complications
we are now
best friends

Special Congratulations to my winner Paige Rider (Page_Writer)!!
Your poem truly made me think and most of all made me feel.
Also congratulations to my runners up too Paul Summerscales (diddi) and Idryad (Grace).
Special extended thank you to all those that unfortunately did not win. I valued your work just the same and would like to thank you all for your entries. Some truly moving words and feelings expressed.
