SACRED GARDEN

this ordinary ground,
our weedy old Eden,
and this cathedral
of pine
and oak
and sycamore
and its bold choir,
and us,
priest and priestess,
holy in our ragged vestments,
king and queen
of fall harvests
and winter gardens,
our tired bones
griping at the knees,
and how
we push on,
ordinary,
perfect,
tending our sacred space,
and this prayer of thanks
welling up
like a vow
and whispered
in the ear
of god
for this good year ending
and more to come
amen

The Future Fool of Hope

"Every silver lining has a cloud."
-- the Reality on Earth

*

How vexing each new bother I yet stomached this past year,
each weekend running out of nuts, potato chips, and beer,
the earthquake, fire, hurricane, tsunami, flood, mudslide,
rape, war, enslavement, torture, rude behavior, genocide,
malaria, starvation, STDs up the wazoo,
new flus anew, and cancers (one a badass bugaboo)
till afterwards I managed somehow still to hit a snag,
espying on the toe I stubbed a teensy, weensy tag --
since half the planet's population yearly live to thrive
as half to forty years of age fail yearly to survive.

*

a dedication of Respect
for
the Pain of life's nonstop Horrors untold

a revolving helios rhyme menippean satire on
the paradise of countless fools full of hope

january, 2023 -- the romantic yet confident about
his own future,
naturally still of paramount importance

Blessing

I'll tell you about a mercy ridden morning with both gladness and sadness in my eyes
With both rejoicing and downward smile harbouring my chest

In all of it I was blessed

Because I know the moment now, is shown no farther forward than then
When mapped apon the infinite
The fingerprint of God
My blessings tomorrow already on that hand

That I might rise and know him more
Or die and see his face

For I am a sinner saved by Grace

And now indications
Nods of approval and urges to reach further and grasp his plan
In front of me, surrounding me

I am free

And I will do so
His will be done

To Live Life Madly

- To Live Life Madly -

When the sun set on all the world tonight,
And not one, knew that I was watching…
My hot tears fell, under moon-glow bright.
While I cried, until I started mad laughing!
I saw dancing girls by the side of the road,
And I smiled at their love of life and living.
I wanted to kiss one and lighten her load…
And quench my loneliness, so unforgiving.
But I had to continue upon my way home,
For others depend upon all that I can do…
And love today is not free simply to roam!
So I contain my passion, until it must cool.

So the sun, sets on the sad world this eve,
And I look for rainbows in the darkness…
Trying not to look into the past and grieve.
For in sorrow there can be no happy rest!
I remember who I am, and I obey a code,
That no one recalls the true worth thereof.
I gaze up at the stars and I dare to hope…
And somehow once more I pray for love!
Does anyone understand, my heavy mind?
The places where my thoughts dare to fly,
And all the dreams I hope one day to find.
People call me mad, but one can only try!

People look to the dawn, and see the sun,
I look to a new day, and seek a beginning.
A world where we may be free, have fun!
And no one tells you, that you are sinning.
Oh, to run out on the fields with a maiden,
And pluck some flowers to put in her hair!
No loftier heaven for me, not now or then,
Only so simple a desire, beyond compare.
Come run with me, maid, if you feel as I…
And let the dawn’s dew wet our bare feet.
Why fight our desires, and all senses deny,
Life should be lived madly, savored sweet!

I’ll carry your Soul II

hey, only if you saw me standing,
hoping that I won’t end up waiting,
pondering in the shadows, my thought’s lurking,
my desire? Conversations’ are a good starting?

could a banter be such an experience?
god! the brain rush was almost intelligence,
hormonal endorphin, serotonin and oxytocin,
add dose of dopamine, and fuck yes! I’ll be your next of kin?

we found ourselves, are we deeply connected as ghouls?
through our wildest pleasures.. spontaneous adventures?
nights passing by, those flimsy rolls tends to bound our souls,
always calming them hearts with wild balcony overtures!

coincidentally it was Japanese,
mesmerizingly, the plans are Italianese,
Oh! Roberto’s, perhaps there’s momento,
heck that, there’s the mental wild oats to sow!

I’ve wondered if I’m better off being alone?
or having you as my “baby” trying off new clothes?
should I sleep you off your feet, taking you to Rome?
or gently plant you down and bring you home?

alluring dark eyes, the soul’s passionate,
luscious dark hair, so gently affectionate,
painted lips, ruby red, making heads turn,
ashes to ashes, the smile that makes hearts burn!

skin deep, where everyone usually goes
a secret in your soul, i wonder if everyone knows?
hides a tree of life that constantly grows
connecting hearts with the tears in the eyes, that joyful soul glows

the kingdom ruler that’s in the room,
queen of hearts and souls, snaking through tombs,
menacingly trying to dance with the flow,
to be trapped gently in my arms, would I let you go?

secrets I'm hoping, dreaming, wanting to leap,
let whatever’s broken, mend, starting from deep,
kissing your lips, the desires to passionately beat,
carrying from its depths, the heart, I would forever keep!

We'll See

Happiness seems to have
evaded us this year and
myself especially but not
like I'm saying I was alone
in this, we all caved in some
way or form, even those
tough souls who don't like
to admit defeat here and there.
Maybe it was hope- that kind of
hope that is hard to understand
but comes in at the most unexpected
times even when we feel like
you can't hit rock bottom harder.
But of course, the fall can always
be steeper or more robust. I said
to myself that I would never let
the world take control of me but
I've lied all year to myself in
hopes that I would call myself out
again, like I've done in the past but
maybe it wasn't on my shoulders
this time, that's what I like to think.
What a brutal year, this lonely
un-logical year. Here is to hoping
that next year is a million times
prettier but you know what they
say about luck and wishful thinking.
We'll see what life says and if it's time
to heal and move forward.

- I can write more but what for? Not like
things will get much better. I rather...

Good Blessings

I tumbled headfirst yet I still keep
My footing on stable ground.
The light was there as I was deep
In the darkness. I was crowned
With so many blessings even as
The blessings turned ugly and had
Thorns, but my foot was on the gas
Pedal going through all the bad
Patches and weeds trying to slow
Me down. I held my head high
As the constant ebb and flow
Was trickling. Saying goodbye
Was right there on my tongue,
But the blessings kept coming
And made me forever young.
I was walking instead of running
Towards everything I was once
Afraid of. Nothing is diminishing
My spirits or keeps me from the suns
As I am one step closer to finishing.
