Simplicity
Simplicity I adore
Minimalism my preferred style
No longer blurred
By weed or booze
A clear mind is better
And the words find their way
More easily
From neurons to paper.

Radical Revolution.
2 radically change our way of living
We concern ourselves in bringing
About a radical revolution
Of the complicated heart
Resulting in- in the dark,
Outlandish,not far behind me,
Simplicity Milarkee.
Please-
I can't handle your complexity.
Talk as child like 2 me,as you can.

TANGLE
this tangle of stuff
this ragged monument to love and fear
and wonder
and want
and look at that thing,
bought and used
a hundred years ago
and they don't
make 'em like they used to
and how she loved that book
and man, you can't keep it all
but, jesus,
these scratches where the cat clawed
at suppertime, wanting,
and these photographs,
mattie and mama
and aunt lucy
and all this stuff,
this jagged pile,
this map to nowhere
but here
these artifacts of life
and love
and pain
and how i'd like to burn it all
some day
this ragged monument to love and fear
and wonder
and want
and look at that thing,
bought and used
a hundred years ago

Words, Balms or Daggers?
The smallest of words.
most concise phrases
whether solo or combined
are heaviest in responsibility,
consequence, or
irreparable ramifications defined
Freedom to live life
as one chooses
to assuage pain of injustice,
infinitesimally salve deep wounds
of grief by evil wrought
on jury’s pronouncement hinges
whether “guilty” or not.
Resolve and dedication
to “I will, “I do,”
at nuptial altar easily uttered
may build institutions
of wedded bliss
or treacherous roads
by broken promises,
unhappiness,
bitter loneliness rutted
“I love you” spoken
with genuine devotion
hope, acceptance,
self-esteem imbues.
while beautiful souls
incrementally die
denigrated when
“I hate you”spews.

To The Great Poem I May One Day Compose
To the great poem I may one day compose
I know you’re lingering around somewhere close
You won’t reveal yourself until the time is right
So I keep you in mind expecting your light
And once your inspiration comes to my heart
I will craft you like the most reverent piece of art
Weaving words and expressions that say it all
When a lifetime of memories begs the call
But if the words don’t come to me just like I said…
I will recite them in free verse from my deathbed instead

Simplicity (comp entry)
"One day I will find the right words, and they will be simple.” — Jack Kerouac
Dry mouth and a croaking whisper
Follow after my grandiose theatrics
That, in the heat of the moment,
I supposed would burn right through
Crossing this divide between me and you.
The drain caught me choking,
Gagging on bad choices and hasty words;
This affair has me spinning madly.
I flip blindly through these pages,
Perusing exquisite expressions throughout the ages.
A written rehearsal littered with scribbles:
Endless erasing, cursing, ripping, burning,
Crying, and holding my sore head.
Anxious hands clench in unbrushed tresses,
The dam breaking fast as my heart undresses.
Hold me close
When my blubbering nonsense speaks.
Dry mouth and a croaking whisper
Follow after my grandiose theatrics
That, in the heat of the moment,
I supposed would burn right through
Crossing this divide between me and you.
The drain caught me choking,
Gagging on bad choices and hasty words;
This affair has me spinning madly.
I flip blindly through these pages,
Perusing exquisite expressions throughout the ages.

Here's Your 'Uproar'
Chaos is a stunning
gunshot blast: bullet shells
shredding my consciousness.
You tested me—
I failed.
After cleaning the walls,
I come back:
quietly stretching my words
higher than your opinion.
