( a Sonnet )
While hoping for his call on phone I write,
There’s sound of rain & warmth from vented heat.
I’m coil’d up on the bed bathed in soft light,
And leaves that scatter chatter down the street.
The flicker of a bulb, the wind in flight,
My mind is playing tricks like rising damp.
The walls where shadows watch in dead of night
Keep distant never coming near my lamp.
The Muse is still’d while other thoughts are there,
The gusts of rain are keeping him from speech.
I pause to rest my eyes and tousle hair,
Before he comes I’m sleeping out of reach.
And then to crawl in bed between my hips,
My words for him have dried upon my lips.

Let's clarify some things, shall we? This was yesterday's update:
After day 1 we have 21 weighing in ( 5 twice into their second day ), and 6 AWOL! Because yesterday was a National holiday, you have until midnight ( your time zone ) tonight to post two poems. If you fail to post, your name will be dropped from the competition and you forfeit your chance at this year's trophy.
Also,
You can double-post for two reasons ONLY: if you know you won't be available the following day. Or if you're making up a day you missed. Just leave a footnote explaining why you're double-posting.
In the comp you're limited to 30 posts. This prevents excess flooding and confusion for those keeping count and tallying words/ unique words. NO ONE needs more work through April. If you'd like to post more, you can through your own DUP page.
Therefore, unless you live in England or beyond, or you're not going to be available tomorrow, there is absolutely NO reason you should have more than three posts in the comp. The comp is lax in that it allows for LIFE and circumstances beyond your control, such as being out of town, no internet access, death in the family, etc.
It's not a race to see who finishes first.
Lastly, The speakeasy thread is where discussion needs to take place hereout. That's why we have it.

"Letters to a Love interest speeding past nitrogen trucks"
I don't dream as much as i should
but i once told you
where i threw you up on my kitchen counter
after you fed me batter from your finger
we made hot passionate sex
i pulled your hair
bit your neck
and you sucked the soul right out of me
a vacuum cleaner to the drape spider
it was great
I don't dream as much as i should
i often think of intimate messages exchanged in small bathrooms,
hallways,beds that we share
i still wake up and want your words off my lips
want you to destroy me like a wildfire does california forests
but maybe you want to sanitizer on your lips instead
I don't dream as much as i should
i take you hands and we dance into the night
until the stars scream horror movie death scene murder
crashing down on our heads
ruining worldly obligations
hot air balloons pass by as a shoulder brush of a stranger
i rub my eyes when i wake
and cannot tell what is a dream and what is reality anymore
I don't dream as much as i should
when i do i'd like to say it's about you

I've been laying under white posts
in Springtime rain.
I've been dreaming, between the screams
Of a teething child with a running nose.
I've been dreaming of stretching my toes,
running in the darkness,
chilled, in the snow.
I'm been dreaming, whilst between dances
With a feeding child, with a sleeping frame.
I've been dreaming of drinking in a shared bar,
Sleeping it off
in a bed alone, door closed not ajar.
I've been dreaming, of not making wishes
Of truly enjoying these moments
I've been dreaming of being guilt free
Laughing and meaning it,
Being okay being me
whilst laying under white posts
In Springtime rain.

Temple’s Hidden Urn
(sonnet)
formule poésie érotique 3/30
How heart has turned to shocks of goddess need,
Unbidden gapes, the urn where solace stood.
Tears frozen in their wayward drift concede,
As orb again wrest rain from deepest wood.
The dreamy star-shown maw past southern vale,
High spritely form, engulfs the tallest tree.
With widened mouth to catch the washing gale,
Her farthest valley well receives with glee.
In struggled path at narrows’ rend expand,
Hard pressed in finding ways pursuing please,
But gate's resist will prim and press command
Admit and with intent gives coming ease.
With flush of valley storm, the gush beyond,
The filling dawn, with rush, makes urn a pond.

Float Like Concrete
Covered in this skin
Existing for a finite eternity
Relative senses poking and prodding
at the fabled dialect of my why's and how's
It all seems so simple
Lunging through
the metaphorical rings of flame
Just to find salvation
in the smoke break
Waiting on the other side
Before bounding through
The next obstacle
life has to offer
I come to question
The same problems
As if I hadn't had a cigarette
Just a minute ago
How troublesome it is
Finding hope where doubt decays
And doubt where hope once thrived

I miss the man and his cooking
My father had happy eyes,
carrying the food
for us to the table
as he has been known to do.
He loved me hard, and constant,
affection subtle and honest:
in his teasing, his grin; the grill,
and my eggplant burgers on it.
I like the way he loved me.
Wasn't raw, or cooked to mush,
but perfect, balanced texture
seasoned well; flavor that hugged.
My dad fell over on me,
on his way to bring the food,
and I caught him and I squeezed him
but he simply wouldn't move.
His failed heart stopping next to mine;
my waking eyes all watered,
I thank that ugly dream
for telling me to call my father.

Lost And Found
Somewhere
in Literary Limbo
exists a poem taken
from me one day when
my back was turned
And now I know better
from this lesson learned
the hard way about
every Love letter
from my Heart
I slaved to
write
Not all art and poetry
can be saved
Vanished into the night
disappeared from cyber space
Lost
as I feared
without a digital trace
Having tossed furniture
ransacked the entire place
I came up empty handed
The disappointment
in your voice ...
on your face ...
This happening was by far
the easiest of lessons learned
demanded of me;
there is a lifetime ahead
for penning more poetry
and
I Love You
can never be said enough
for Ahavati with Love

THE THESIS OF ME — DRAG
I don't want to be me
Not because I dreamt of a life not my own
But because I'd rather walk the path,
Now unknown, for I chose another road
And here I am looking at another me
That could have been but never to be
— A shortcut
It could have been different
But life is arduous and I am still alive
I don't want to keep on talking
Not because I regret what I had already said
But because I have ears and I am not deaf
Not to hear the voice, foreign as it may seem
But I knew that it was my own and offended
I am with my very own tone
— Kind words
Or I could've kept my silence, Alas!
I still have to say what needs to be said
I don't want to strive anymore
Not because I have what I have
But because it is not enough
When it is already too much
And my hands already full with the burden
Still wishing for more
— An easy life
It could have been a lot simpler
But there is no one else to carry the weight
