and you think
until your thoughts
are disfigured

horrid hooded caped goblins
who hobble along the grey of brain
through the grey of the day
and ohh they go
soo
fkn
slow

in the end the sentence was death
and I found the execution easy
was the words I felt sorry for
not really, it was like thank the gods
they cease to be.
ahh, don’t thank them

#NoPoo

very much appreciate all the poets who’ve participated. particularly those going from the start, equally those who’ve become prolific and indeed those who drop in and out like myself

Thread is open for anyone to challenge themselves or each other to do a string of daily posts.

The Presence Of Man

Created in the image of the Divine
Superior creatures
With handsome manly features
Selfishly given of his rib
A man in the making starting from the crib
Playdough, marbles, Army men to command
Bow and arrows, playing all day in a box of sand
First day of school for the rest of your life
Parents looking down at your young face, years going by without strife
Preparing your mind for the day you take a wife

The first school boy crush
Swooning a girl with love letters to make her blush
High school now, a little hairs on the chest
A new pep in your step
Girls and partying your only quest
College days
The initiation Haze
Fraternities
Brotherhood
No Falsehood
Banded for life with the security of Knighthood

College Sweetheart with a mind of gold
Virginal intentions from what you’ve been told
A dream for a parent if only their son can maintain to hold
Graduation from the classroom
Now to the boardroom
Lavish home, expensive suits, fast cars, you know the ones that goes vrommmm
At the alter now, sweat creeping under the Tux
I hope this girl’s hand in marriage is À la carte deluxe

Man and wife
My partner for life
Positive test for the seed of creation
Burping, changing diapers, milk
Wondering do you still have that swag, with words of silk
Long legs in the office, a bit of flirtation
No sinful hesitations
Baby, I’m working late
Cover my plate
Don’t wait up for me
A man snagged by a tempting Honey Bee

I’m sorry baby, will you forgive me, we would no doubt get past this
Emptiness now felt in a reassuring kiss
Pain staring at you from such beautiful eyes
Months of uncertainties and now unveiled lies
The house is quiet she’s packed up and gone
Money, success, means nothing inside the walls of this empty home

One more chance one day at a time
We’re older now that grand stairwell is just too hard to climb
Child in college dancing on air
Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers dancing now to our rocking chairs
I hold your hand as I look back
That second chance in life
Placed us right back on track
Private Nurses, our beds positioned side-by-side
Gray hairs, Pills, Oxygen tanks
Just to get us by
I hold your hand as my life flashes from the skies
The last breath of life staring into your beautiful eyes

Tears of remembrance roses thrown over me
You stood as a man and followed your creed
Without the presence of God breathing to set my soul free
Sliding out the cocoon of the womb
Given unto you your first breath of life
Promised by the stars to a man and his wife
You were someone’s blessing to be
From birth to the first scratch of your knee
What would you have done
What testimony would your life have stood for
Ashes to ashes you no more

sometimes
it’s like we were born
for each other

[do you know what it’s like
when a name strings a feeling

when you hear it it hits
then it aches

it aches like fuck]

we meet, talk, plan
and we eat like we’re livin
four steps above our station
and there’s no one or nothing
can kick us back down

and I feel
like I know her
like she knows me
like it’s supposed to be

but I dunno
if I can keep climbing walls
and kicking doors down
to get in

and I can see now
what I’ve done. been doing
all along

I taste my medicine
it burns

burns like fuck

Sometimes
I like the hell I create
the hell of my own making
burning in a true
bluish heated light

black and blue—
bruising each other
to marrow
an oath and excavation
of hate and gristle

these are their discoveries
that shear bloody
to bask in tearing
those sounds of ripping
Just pure exquisite- as echoes ring
encompassing all
and becoming song
self music swirls
into this, this of such fantastical
penetrating to core
connecting core
as
every
single
chord
plays and sings

A song born
of rose water,
fire and verity

and a much
welcomed
hell

Somewhere Over The Rainbow

Somewhere Over The Rainbow
You will call out my name
You will lift your eyes to the hills
As the trails and tribulations blanket your inner soul
You will hear the faint echoes of ancient mummers
In that old Creole dialect
Loudly in your ear to comfort, yet denied of its strength

Somewhere Over The Rainbow
Where you can taste the reality of its dreams
When your heart was once upon a time in the right place
Your mind reached and raced for regally to exceed
Footsteps of lead surrendered you to the pleasure, and the needs of Karma’s bliss

Somewhere Over The Rainbow
You will feel the ties that bind
Love of one and not see to judge the shades of colors
The bond of words will be law
Expressions louder than the falsehoods of the heart, would be ignored
When the blanket of destiny smothers
Squeezes you, the haven you sewed in life shall keep you
The very same fabric that unravels to hold it together
When the kiss of ambiance knocks on your heart
And the mind is perplexed as to why

Somewhere Over The Rainbow
Footsteps in life will guide
Laughter will ring out
Tears of remembrance will flow
The veil of idiocrasy shall and will be lifted
The heart of a man he shall fall
The uplifting of a woman shall bow unto its past wonderous
In the realm of the vast galaxy
Hope, dreams, wishes and desires shall adorn to compliment the full circle of life
The absence of presence shall not be obsured
Somewhere Over The Rainbow

The Fate Of Time

Forgiveness in your comforting hands for the sadness mirrored in your eyes
Two strong women whose spouses fell under someone’s ill intentions of demise

Coretta Scott King
My Martin speaks to me from the bed of his grave
Whispered words he ponders for world peace once man finds the way to pave
His belief this world can still be spiritually saved
In the land of the free and brave

He believes in one nation as we walk in unity, hand-in-hand
That old Negro oppression mentality shall no longer define a colored man
The laws of morality shall be upheld across these great lands
No matter where a man or woman stands

One love given, received under the majestic blue skies
No defiance by heart, soul, mind, will hinder the advancement of time
Or the stagnation of human beings’ state of mind
The revelations to love will be ordained by God’s designs

Nationalities or language barriers will be the reflection mirrored in our eyes
Interracial unity will be at an all time high
Integrity and reverence will be a person’s worth
The stigmatism of segregation shall no longer rule this earth

Jacqueline Kennedy
I thought it was peculiar I can still hear John’s voice
A man who loved his country by free choice
He advised me, had he still been here
Mandated laws to edge America’s progress to a better political frontier

Where work for the wages of your pay
Would stretch beyond the calling of the day
Give me your poor, weary, your indigent, will have a better cause to be
A universal healthcare system will be free

Technology used to better educate our youth
Invigorating mentalities will be fruitful to learn, wisdom in its fragile pursuit
Not controlled by mood enhancers to solve life’s simple truths
Scientists, Chemists, will have the ability to compete with any other’s Democracy’s patent

Not sell our country’s rights in any fashion
Then reap the downfall of its crumpling distractions
We The People will Make America Great Again
No disparity in its promise of its constitutional origin

Remarkable men with different creeds we adopted within their era
Tears of remembrance only to be carried away by Pallbearers

The past is prophetic in that it asserts loudly that wars are poor chisels for carving out peaceful tomorrows.
Martin Luther King Jr.
Minister

Efforts and courage are not enough without purpose and direction.
John F. Kennedy
35th President of the United States

Have a blessed weekend everyone

if my aloneness wrote, too...

when missing you
gnaws
to bone

night sounds
pulse
and pulse
deafening in
aching repeats

becoming a soundtrack
that
even my
stark
emptiness

can't rival
