Poetry Contest

Tell me Your favorite tea and how it enables You to chat well into a given night
My favorite is Japanese Hōjicha Tea
but i believe i've only spilled about Tea in 2 spills here in the deep.

Old or new spills OK with me
and referral spills OK, as well (just ask the author for permission)

Infusion

Reach back many dynasties.
Camellia Sinensis the tips so green,
the tender shoot.
Inscrutable is its history,
just read it's leaves.
It's tale of popularity,
That brew , that clear infuse.
Believe me; I conclude
such mountains it can move.
Stirred with an ear of sympathy.
The builders mug on a half built wall,
from the orient its rise and fall.
To calm your wild Neandertal

I think I'll put the kettle on,
to enjoy its song
Liquid ambience with family and friends
the whom you are, in sipped amens
a slice of lemon that Earl Grey demands

Yorkshire tea

There's a photograph I lost down
the back of some old pine drawers,
black dyed hair spiked like a punk
and morning stubble,
sitting thin in a mohair jumper
and ripped jeans.

My voice was cigarettes
through nicotine stained fingers
hands cupped around a steaming brew
its vapour trail captured the cold
collateral of work away digs.

In the background a cluttered kitchen
you can just make out the box
of Yorkshire tea, I can still see the deep
gold swirl, strong enough to stain rocks,
sweet enough to keep in a smokers cough.
It only takes a sip and I am back in my bunk
with a half covered, ready to dunk.

Lemon Verbena

How can lemon rind fit
so nicely in a leaf;
jagged little eye-shaped
rough fragment
of grown, green parchment
borne on tall, craggy stems.

I grew some in my window
once, it pushed its way
through stouter tropicals;
a persistent, woody stalk
branching out thinly,
hungry for deep sun.

The first time I tried it
it mellowed me like cbd
but subtler, gentler.
It was an unsweet lemon candy
that needed no sugar.
The hint of bitterness was perfect,
I thought.

The leaves are as rugged as
bay leaves, they need no
bag to contain them
only a spoon to remove them
once soggy.

I bought a big bag
at a farmer's market.
Not quite as vibrant as fresh
but a close second
and I'm hooked up for a while
to contemplate growing
more.
