Poetry Contest

A poem of exactly fifty unique words. Title not included in word count.
Here’s an example:

Fifty Unique Words

the challenge
fifty unique
words

i have
prided myself
on

intrinsic ability
to write
concisely

tight terse
minimalist verse
now

writing overtly
long poetry
with

more rhyme
and less
reason

must meet
competition criteria
so

don’t fault
for limited
content

perhaps soul
has been
sold

suppose there’s
forty plus
nine?

Phases

Big city hookers
with golden
hearts toasted by
their very first Romeos
all swear that men
will never change,
but being naive
an art form
for Candy
from Oklahoma
whose daily ritual
now involves dabbing
on pounds of makeup
to cover swollen eyes,
forgetting every full moon
eventually goes crescent.

Fifty words for an outstanding individual

Birdsong birthday
morning break
sunshine rain awake
sleepy eye your yawn still prostrate
for each year, times horoscope
 greying hair all falling out
seeping pain comes tired smiles
cards assembled, thousands wrote
100 laps round the garden course
over Thirty Million Pounds were raised
heroic Captain TOM in greatest PRAISE

Ideal Woman

Smoothly curvaceous slim; refined
Sharp and quick witted in the mind

Friendly; outgoing, vivacious; vibrant
Talks so much; is rarely silent.

Her knowledgeable wisdom absolute; profound
Comes up with insights that will astound,

Caring motherly looks after all;
No matter whether large or small

Finding my perfection
Success not dejection

Will

We are unique in some type of way
After all, each life has a different course
Searching for purpose and meaning
Requires the distinctive magnetic force
Will
It can drive men far into unknown places
Exploring past conventional frontiers
Beyond boundaries bound to discover
Where fate awaits with vociferous cheer

front porch pickin'

my guitar
will not resist
when fingers
kiss
her long
sweet
neck

she
moans
or sighs
at gentle
licks
on silver strings
first slow

then quick

gently
crooning
these sad tunes
of broken
hearts
'neath lovers'
moon

ol' time
twang
sounds
like home
this picker's
zoned
he's here

but
gone

Fifty Words

Only fifty little words
wonder what they are
truly worth
in this world of dearth

Enough for my dark roast coffee
a canned soda
or another carbonated smile
while passing away each mile

Leaving me with just enough
change
to somehow better myself
improve things

from the way it seems

A Fondness

Gesture foretold tasteless ways,
to entail breathless gaze across skylines.
Shivers gulped beyond spines.
Exquisiteness formed by his eyes.
Gentle baritone’s voice echoed,
speechless tone; the verb forecasted.
Softy wind amid fingertips and
magnet tricks,
Tattooed wave on shorelines.
Inscribed love thru chivalry schemes,
Mystic artists’ blueprint molded my spirit.

Treasure of Life

The treasure of life
I waiting for us
To be found in true Glory
For we take the
Journey of passion
To find the gold
Only to find the
Treasure is the
Beautiful Sweet
Golden Sunset
Which is very beautiful
To watch with someone
who means the world to you
Exemplifying your world
Beyond the limits of the lover's
Journey to the glittering stars and beyond
The space time continuum
Where true lovers meet again
Engaging in wild sexual congress
For all eternity or until the
Big Bang is created to bump us
Back into the jungles we called the
Space Time Continuum

Thanks Mom

Big boobs and life,
the only things mother ever gave me,
Funny,
been family’s running joke throughout my childhood.
I get it,
feels uncomfortable to laugh.
Like her,
awkward feelings shall pass.
I’ve accepted such,
But I’ll take humor rather than pity, any day..
Lesson learned?
Choose love over drugs

Wisdom

Wisdom

Not far but near
Listen and you’ll hear
She whispers...but faint
She spills her paint
All over your brain
Colorful
And very plain
Embrace her and she’ll leave a stain
She’s not some enigma
Neither a stigma
She is your solution
to your folly
Pure and holy
She is Wisdom.

Consternation From A Spiritual Equation

If I'm GOD's child , why should I fear
The entity proclaimed to've put me here
Adhering to being an Allah fearing man
One whose footprints are embedded in sand
Grand Master of our existence's quintessence
I'd rather admire his or her spiritual essence
My equation is impeded by much consternation
