Around About

(i) Amen:

Why do ya pray to me? Don't lie!
Which way do ya look up in da sky?
What do ya expect to hear?
What do ya really want to hear?
Many unbelievers, their wanting to see me, so sincere

(ii) Praying:

Are ya still around and about me, my Lord?
Will ya return someday, with one accord?
Are ya really the truth, da whole flaming truth?
Nothing but da truth, the answer, I believed in my youth
Shout out also, to da virgin, the one and only, Mamma Mary
I just wish to finally get rid, of this topsy-turvy life
This boy keeps suffering sadness and strife
Without anything real, you know wat I be meaning
My eyes, they seem, to have just stopped gleaming
Give me a sign or an old fashioned message from high above
I'd ask you to give me a little bit of a shove
I just want to believe, in da trinity or you three, above
Before I finally give up, cause I'm all outta love

Stare up at da sky, kneel down in church: No!
Not knowing where to look upwards to pray; No!
Does all humanity, keep searching: No!
Here and there, my God, I need to please me

But I need, to please thee
I need, I want, I need...to please thee
I need, I want, I need...

(iii) Amen:

Why do ya pray to me? Don't lie!
Which way do ya look up in da sky?
What do ya expect to hear?
What do ya really want to hear?
Many unbelievers, their wanting to see me, so sincere

(iv) Hello:

In this life, I've been through hell, so many wrong turns
I learn, then I leave, I miss her loving, so much, it burns
So many ups and downs, I plead, it's still not goin' away
Lonely days, thinking too much, weeping nights, wherever I lay
Arising so late, smashed avocado, a table in the corner, just for one
It's better by myself, three's a crowd, so I go solo, one on one

(v) Careful:

I think I just felt a little shove, of pure love, or so it would seem
A tap on my shoulder, so slight, what does this dream mean?
Were my prayers answered, do I now believe, I cry out
Does it have to be by blind faith, scared of da truth, still having doubt
Da holy ghost, da three from above, show me da signpost
So I can live and feel, get back on da track, first and foremost

Stare up at the sky, kneel down in church: No!
Not knowing where, look upwards to pray; No!
Does all humanity, keep searching: No!
Now and then, my God, I need to please me

I need, to please thee
I need, I want, I need...to please thee
I need, I want, I need...

(vi) Amen:

Why do ya pray to me? Don't lie!
Which way do ya look up in da sky?
What do ya expect to hear?
What do ya really want to hear?
Many unbelievers, their wanting to see me, so sincere.

Blurry Daze

I'm all for peace and the hippie days
We were the children of the 60s, layin' about and lettin' our hair sprout
We were influenced as much as we influenced others
Flower power didn't work, maybe it's just the American way, no doubt
Turning over all the apple carts, should've just turned the other cheek my baby
Some say, I went too far, is it because, i've got such a rebel heart? Maybe.

Hippies have survived since the caveman days
Sometimes hiding behind societies blurry daze
Never wanting to upset the nations orderly ways
Always demonstrating for their true beliefs in a cloudy haze.

Now it feels like I've been jabbed, with a poison dart
So deep down inside my experienced, but innocent rebel heart
That 60s biz was just our breakfast and we hadn't even got to lunch yet
If I was a new gen baby, I could still show others love and peace, I bet
Give me a chance at showing you, that I'm not that different than you
Go ahead, ask me questions, there well overdue.

Hippies have survived since the caveman days
Sometimes hiding behind societies blurry daze
Never wanting to upset the nations orderly ways
Always demonstrating for their true beliefs in a cloudy haze.

Not changing my ways, but adapting my ways, is what I need to do
I'll listen to others and always take your cue, to try and remove the venom for you
It might not happen overnight, it could take a while, alright!
Maybe I'll go with the flow or maybe wake-up in a sweat, in the middle of the night
Let me get my groove back and things will change, we'll go back to the start
Just forgive me and always remember, I was born with this rebel heart.

Hippies have survived since the caveman days
Sometimes hiding behind societies blurry daze
Never wanting to upset the nations orderly ways
Always demonstrating for their true beliefs in a cloudy haze.

Busking About

I’ve been busking about since young and fair
The atmosphere from onlookers, like skating on thin air
So unconventional, prior to the old smacking ways
That’s how I’d spend my entire waking days
Melodic riffs, dancing over bass lines
Harmonising daily, to some lonesome feeling ballads
Playing finger-style guitar, without any speeding hump hazards

Along the boardwalks of Venice Beach
In unlikely places, that you’d ever encounter or reach
A folksy blues musician, you can’t wait to hear
Independent, from a money-making machine, that’s so clear
A young black musician, singing ‘bout life’s rights and wrongs
With an aching intimacy, strings are strummed, to original songs

The overall effect is something like a blend
Of other musicians, with a depth and subtlety
More suited to the stage, than a street with a dead end
While the busking experience is fundamentally a freedom, luckily
Still taking a fading, battery-powered amp, with heaps of torque
Along with a flattop, down to the busy LA boardwalk

I think the best thing you learn from being downtown
Is how to be really optimistic, while still being on your own
Busking was like practicing with a metronome
It started pulling on a few chords, like not ever knowing a safe home
Then, thoughts of ones life coming to an end, my tick-tock time
Then, I go back to playing a song, people tossing me, a silver dime
I imagine, how it would sound, playing along with four in a band
I’ve never really been dealt, a very good poker hand
Trying to re-create myself, like an over paid, auto tuned, music star
Well, as much as I could, with just a worn out, acoustic guitar

They say, I picked up the guitar at seven
At first trying to play lap style, just keepin’ it even
Because, I couldn’t reach across my scar torn body
Early childhood lessons, gave me a foundation in blues
After that, I wasn’t taught nothin’ by nobody
I just kept playing like that, what did I have to lose
I could learn by ear, until I heard the rings at the checkout
It would take a while, but I’d figure it out, what they were all talking
about.

Cotton Pickin’

The only friend I’d ever had
Was my dear ole slave dad
He once told me, think about your future
Try and forget about the south’s criminal past
Cotton pickin’ and turnin’ plow, on a wealthy mans plantation field
He never once saw the money that it did forever yield
Big boss said, he almost cleared the books
So yes, the plantation bosses are the real McCoy crooks
Daddy gave them a mighty fistful, but got just a nightly spoonful in return.

Crocodile Day Tripping

There's now proof, that a Russian flesh-eating cannibal is in the good old US of A

He would offer you toxic ingredients, including gasoline and lighter fluid, I'd say

But, because its tell-tale scaly sores, are similar to another well known leacher

They initially played down concerns, saying, "they're not seeing signs of the creature"

My boyfriend had maggots coming out of his leg, after a recent foreign scare

I know people don't want to hear stuff like that, but it is really happening out there

Snap goes the toothless crocodile, one, two, three

Wangsta da Gangsta, had a great haul

Ring a ding a ling, 'cause they deliver the first for free

Jim and Joan went into da hood, to fetch nothin' much at all

They fall to the charlatans, that promise you a crystal ball

A little at first and then some more, that's for sure

It will make you snap, give you curls and dance you a little twirl

Star gazing thru the sun ray and day tripping into a wayward night

That's why if you use crocodile juice, it will do more than shake ya loose

Destroying our souls, creating huge holes and build mountains out of moles

Snap goes the toothless crocodile, one, two, three

Wangsta da Gangsta, had a great haul

Ring a ding a ling, 'cause they deliver the first for free

Jim and Joan went into da hood, to fetch nothin' much at all

Mr Jeffrey Vint has become less popular among his abusers

I say, "they're all losers", but I guess, beggars can't be choosers

Some mother's even gave birth with two thumbs, but those babies are now total scum

Others think the monster could be at large, maybe roaming your neighbourhood

Put a stop to this croc's chomp, before it destroys everything in the swamp

Get your doctor to prescribe a stronger drug, to conquer that evil imposter

Snap goes the toothless crocodile, one, two, three

Wangsta da Gangsta, had a great haul

Ring a ding a ling, 'cause they deliver the first for free

Jim and Joan went into da hood, to fetch nothin' much at all.

CrazeHaze-DazeWaze

Wandering no mans land
I’m distant, confused, you do understand
Internally bruised, not cool
Forgetting ‘bout that chin drool
I’m shuffling and and stutt stutter stuttering
Forgetting ’bout something, but don’t have nothing
Circling roundabouts, where’s the damn turn-off
Not old age, just Parkinson’s Disease, ya jerk-off
Beginning the day, falling asleep at the wheel
Other drivers, swearing at me, am I for real
Strolling food isles, zoning out, I just paid twice
Frozen face, freezing of the gait, end of paradise.

Dear Father, For You Have Sinned

It's not time to have a crusade

Just settle down, take it slowly

You're still naive, that's your culture

There's so much you have to do though

Find a cause, totally commit

if you want you can join

Look at me, I am wise, but I'm content

I was made for this life, yes indeed

You were made for this life, with me

and I can't get enough of this life

Can you get enough of me?

Welcome to the Grand Cathedral Deluxe

Such a heavenly pad (Such a heavenly pad)

Such a heavenly pad

Plenty of spirit at the Grand Cathedral Deluxe

Very nice indeed (Very nice indeed)

You can get a feed

You may say I'm a believer

But I'm not the Holyfield one

I hope someday he'll help us

And the church will pray as one

They can't go on preaching

With deviant minds

And we can't enjoy our youth

'cause of deviant minds

Like at Hooters

felt for the very first time

Like at Hooters

when you get goosebumps [out in public, makes you feel bad]

Priest don't mind

Everywhere there sinning now

I'm surrounded by your members

Father, I can see your demon

You know you're my trusted place

You're everything I trust and adore

It's written all over your face

Father, I can see your demon

Pray ya won't mess me about

'Cause your gettin' baptised alright

And no one's gonna save you from the priest about to sin

You know your baptised, baptised alright

You're screaming for your life, inside the confession box, baptised alright

We don't need no vandalism

We don't need no higher order

No dark secrets in the cloakroom

Preachers leave them boys alone

Hey preacher leave them boys alone

All in all you're just another prick in my life

All in all you're just another brick in my life

Cause if you liked it, doesn't mean you can put ya stick in it

If you liked it then you should've got a grown-up with a hole in it

Don't get mad, once you see that he's 'bout to blow

If you liked it then you should've got a blowup with a hole in it

Let me wait for him to get so near to me

Creepy Cardinal Priest

Drop your bullshit and stop your abuse

Creepy Cardinal Beast

Bring it on

Afraid?

Pray Ay Ay Ay

Pray Ay Ay Ay Ay

Pray Ay Ay Now

Drifting About - Ft. Hippo & Harps

Floating around the shores of a beach, whilst being all out to sea
I’ve been drifting about, the days are becoming so long
Nobody told me, it could so easily, happen to me
It’s not that it’s bad, I’ve done nothing wrong
It’s just time, as I knew it, seems to have skipped a beat
A month became a year, like time decided not to catch up and meet
Nowhere to sleep, little to eat, only new wayward floaters to greet

Can you see me or do you choose not to?
Acknowledge me, don’t look straight through me
I’m a human with a heart, if it were you, I’d ask about you
Like, how did you get here, how are you going, what’s your view
On political matters, religious stuff, world concerns, that you see
Put down ya phone, look into their eyes, talk to someone anew

Can’t find a job, most boss’s don’t like me, that’s how it seems
Can’t sing a tune or get the right pitch, just listen, that’s what it means
Living by the seashore, breeze in my face, no windows, in diss free place
Be careful who you trust, they’ll steal every dime, it’s a damn rat race
Friendly folk, pass on by, throw you a penny, ‘cause ya down on your luck
Some girls get down on their knees, handle da merchandise, then suck for a buck
Now quite peckish, haven’t eaten for days, down on one knee, oh fcuk

Can you see me or do you choose not to?
Acknowledge me, don’t look straight through me
I’m a human with a heart, if it were you, I’d ask about you
How did you get here, how are you going, what’s your view
On political matters, religious stuff, world concerns, that you see
Put down ya phone, look into the eyes, talk to someone anew

She’ll be right mate, but every next day, I’m still looking for a place to lay
Under a bush, upon a park bench, those damn insects, are having a field day
I’ve had enough, I got the courage, dialed the number, to get me out of here
Up pulled a Combi Van, with a smile on her face, as she wiped away a tear
Silence all the way home, just a nod or two, I'd gaze at her, the way ya do
At night, laying in bed, thoughts rushing in my head, most are true
In the morning, staring at a mirror, I finally saw the boy that my dear mom, once knew.

WW2

We were ordered by military law

To elope, even before our boat had hit the shore

The bullets knocked us about, thats for sure

Dead cobbers scattered adrift, from the infantrys 1st corp

Now some mates from my own platoon, 1, 2, 3 now 4

Nobody should ever have to witness such gore

Did not matter if you were rich or poor

You were just a target, in this almighty war

If the politicians demanded, they would easily send more

Finally, the west encircled the mad beast, with a rambunctious roar

But they let the Reds go forth, who savaged all the women, like a wild boar

What was the main aim and what was the true meaning, deep down at its core, for this unholy friggin’ war?

With A Tight Rope Noose

My blues they come from those cotton days
Black slaves bought by southern racist ways
Cruel white leaders, and if our lips were to loose
This would be our ending with a tight rope noose

Simple chords, with lyrics of choice
A wealthy white boy searching for voice
Colored teaching whites, but ends with abuse
Everything ending with a tight rope noose

I brought my blues from the cotton days
Black folks appalled by others racist ways
Country of white leaders, if our lips were to loose
Everything ending with a tight rope noose

Sad child from the city mansion practices inside
A coloured mans tune on his mind, while pool-side
Racist born father with rules and abuse
Everything ending with a tight rope noose

Damn, I hope this is not true, but I fear it is so. Humankind are cruel and especially to those weaker then they. A sickness that pervades the soul of a being making them think of who to blame for the predicament of humankind in their own backyards.

OBSESSED WITH WEALTH

What does it mean
To be rich?

Limitless fresh and clean air,
Nourishing water
And fertile soil
Come to mind.

That is the wealth
I want for my children.

That is the wealth I cling to
So obsessively.

Undermined by a Narcotic Lullaby

The future begins
to creak
 I don't want to die
without you
There is so much to say
 I've said too much
I had thoughts of singing

Freefall, the flloorboards
creak
On that side  if you
have stones in
your pockets
I had thoughts of being free

Tidepools wrap the rope twice
 around Willow branch
 the rope won't
 creak
while swinging
I had thoughts of flying

Windswept Leaves piled
 high behind the screen door
 neighbors dog barks
on point  as the shutters
creak
in the wind
 I had thoughts of dying

The thoughts I had were
undermined
By a narcotic lullaby

Psychedelic Den - Longer version

Now there’s a sandbox in the house, as though lying on the beach.
Boys, I just had a thought, maybe if we just listen and not at all teach.
Now a teepee etched on the mind, from within my psychedelic den,
by reliving ones childhood, it might make us wise men, again.
Piano tuning, garnished with sea salt, sinking even deeper,
down with non-believers, rejected by the crazy gatekeeper.
Add a pinch of snorting pepper, minds are suddenly lighter, than dark.
While sitting on the same pile of sand, as a pack of squatting dogs bark,
yelping pups protesting in Downtown Main Street.
Upon hearing some musical witchcraft, with a constant zombie beat,
Demonstrating ‘bout a propaganda communist war.
While rushin’ to eat some smorgasbord full of paranoia, that’s for sure.
A preacher man telling us all, god just jumped off, with a man on the moon.
Meanwhile, climbing four walls of my bedroom, can’t find a way out, anytime soon,
as a voice in my head, is telling me, “To be even more bizarre”.
For too many lonely years in bed, I finally woke up, by plucking at my guitar,
then back upon the stage, in beautiful California, the greatest surfing town.
Still getting nasty flashbacks though, oh how LA can weigh you down.

Uncle Sam or Tom

The blues are in us all, no matter where your from
Not just in Uncle Sam or from a good ole Uncle Tom
If bitten, there’s all sorts of tricks and charms
If no color doctor about, tune into blues, to heal your qualms
But don’t sing it, if you aren’t prepared to bring it
Bottles are going to sink and eventually hit
Walls will be crawled up, then bounced off, in a rage of fit
But it’ll take a lifetime dose of blues music, to rid every damn hurting bit.
