Poetry Contest Description
New Member of the Month Feature!
Welcome to "New Member of the Month" to be featured in the DUP 'New Member of the Month Hall of Fame', sponsored by Tallen.
You have 3 weeks to nominate Your favorite poems from a NEW DUP poet - someone who has been a member for no more than six months.
To locate New Members simply click on 'Poems' > *Latest Poems > Sort Poems > New Members! Thanks to Umm for the image and helping us old people out!
Please note the following when making nominations:
1. Self nominations are not accepted. The great majority of the competitions here are about spotlighting one's own work on a particular topic or theme. This is a chance to nominate that poem that you wish you had written but some other great talent here beat you to it.
2. Until this comp is established, there is no limit to nominations; however, you can't nominate more than one poem per individual new member. *****
3. No DUPLICATES. If someone nominates the same poem the entry will be deleted. If you like it that much wait and vote for it!
4. Any genre except erotica or pornography. This is a Facebook feature and we must adhere to their guidelines.
5. Any member who is banned or disables their account PRIOR to the win will be automatically disqualified.
6. One win per member per calendar year ( 12 months ).
7. All nominators should notify their nominees of nominations.
Any nominated member who wishes to opt out of the competition may do so by messaging me. I will contact the person who nominated you and request an alternate nomination.
Nomination Duration is 3 weeks followed by a week of site voting!

The girl in the mirror
Tousled hair framing her face
Blue eyes staring back at me
Sighing she turns away
Was this all they could see
A china doll
A trophey on a shelf
Her mind full of knowledge
Made keep it too herself
Unwanted looks
Unsavory attention
Her hopes and dreams
They never got a mention
Wear a fake smile
Answer with grace
Play the part
As long as she showed her face
Turning back to face me
A smile of true happiness
Shining up into her eyes
Now seen for all she is
Her life of being paraded
Seems so far away
But the girl in the mirror
She reminds me everyday
Blue eyes staring back at me
Sighing she turns away
Was this all they could see
A china doll
A trophey on a shelf
Her mind full of knowledge
Made keep it too herself
Unwanted looks
Unsavory attention
Her hopes and dreams
They never got a mention
Wear a fake smile
Answer with grace

Turning back to face me
A smile of true happiness

Love Me Always
I
I told you not to,
Told you dont you ever leave me alone,
Still you didnt listen and made me go through,
This shadow of you that hunt me day and night,
As i see you in everything that i do,
You were my friend, my lover, my best nemesis, as we battled across and make out after a rough fight,
I know,
i know what you would say to me,
You would look at me with those puppy big eyes and that smile that bright up the room,
You would get closer and hold my face in your hands, and tell me,
"Its ok,
to miss me"
"Know that im always by your side,
Im in the day and im through the night, guarding you"
"Know that i may be far, but im closer to you then ever"
"Remember all we did together, history can not be erased, but contemplate and treasure the moment we had "
"As i will always be part of you"
"Im a memory of you and me,
Time made us and time set us apart to be free in bondage"
" Remember me,
I am closer than your thoughts,
"Love me always"
I told you not to,
Told you dont you ever leave me alone,
Still you didnt listen and made me go through,

Essence
As I bathe
In the amber afterglow of lust,
she unveils her sultry essence
like a silhouette untouched.
Perforating the mist
of this muffled existence,
like a soft lilac breeze
kissing my skin.
Through this caustic silence
as I contemplate
this sweet poetic union,
blossoming petals of ecstasy.
Almost tasting
the vale of her anatomy
through the slipstream
of desire.
In the amber afterglow of lust,
she unveils her sultry essence
like a silhouette untouched.
Perforating the mist
of this muffled existence,
like a soft lilac breeze
kissing my skin.
Through this caustic silence
as I contemplate
this sweet poetic union,
blossoming petals of ecstasy.
Almost tasting
the vale of her anatomy
through the slipstream
of desire.

The Movement of the Mouth
And to think the word that left us
Was ever our own, ever ours, it becomes.
Words grip the iron teeth
What mawkish
We caress,
Projecting enmity
On false enemies.
The movement of the mouth
Makes no ideas
But the air speaks
To shut us up.
My breath
Smudged in writing
Lies dying
On a paper
And of this Dwindling
Fluid in escape,
Evaporating into the
Wind of our breath,
The breath of our word,
A word is not yet spoken,
For it forever dwindles.
Was ever our own, ever ours, it becomes.
Words grip the iron teeth
What mawkish
We caress,
Projecting enmity
On false enemies.
The movement of the mouth
Makes no ideas
But the air speaks
To shut us up.
My breath
Smudged in writing
Lies dying
On a paper
And of this Dwindling
Fluid in escape,
Evaporating into the
Wind of our breath,
The breath of our word,
A word is not yet spoken,
For it forever dwindles.

Argo
Argyle, gems prone forth a plain sect, texts passively affect an alone art style, bore jade in age of resentment, by dull senses we eased the recovery, gave sage blossoms in wait of obstinance but blessed before i could take, if i could thank it id just simply nod and wave away.
Sounds chase an audible depth pressed in time with these sentences, cents loose lodged along pocket lint, well get lost self indulgent on that laundry smell but soon forget where our ideal physche went with it.
Zeal feels out of normalcy, fiddle with no eyesight of the phsyical department, widdled is the will of an artist with no creativity, pardoned if the speech meets its point before its started, see?
Lethargic bard marks each seamlessly in thought longer than action auctioned by time straint, berated the same phrases restrained to tame presentation, caution ought to be is a living thing.
Morals convince on a singular industry, did they mean the third eye literally?

The Life of Dreams
I hear as though carried on the wind
Faint yet haunting sounds
That speak to me of some distant birth
I remember not
Save in feelings
Which play upon my heart
And pull the strings homeward bound
For a man's traveled but lost
Until he finds
All that came to pass
Was so
He might come to be
Rolling hills and green
Mountains lofty peaks
And waters sparkling
'neath morning sun
Tell me not that the land doesn't speak
But rather
Breaths life in the soul of man
For what man can fail but hear
In the patter of rain
The footsteps which led him here
Yet sadly world moves
By different reasons than these
And sunder soul from moor
Adrift
Oh that I could sweep ash of day
With wind away
Away cross star ladened sea
And desperate now in my waking
Where are they
My now lost and silent dreams
There is something to a woman
A curious flame
Has love never touched the soul of a man
In even its most distant measure
As the vista of some earthly Eden
And spoken
Revealing its deepest treasure
Speak to me, Love
Heart who knows
For I have upon those well worn stones
Where at whose altar vows were vowed
(Though but scattered stones
Along life's trail
For nature is my cathedral)
Remember still
The call of love's sweet promise
I dream of thee, Love
Bewitched
Where do dreams end and you begin
Sometimes perchance to dream is to awaken
Or ne’er to awaken again
If love's true
For some spells hold such power
Faint yet haunting sounds
That speak to me of some distant birth
I remember not
Save in feelings
Which play upon my heart
And pull the strings homeward bound
For a man's traveled but lost

The Righteous Oak
The Righteous Oak
The Righteous oak stands strong and tall,
No storm or tempest that may blow
Would wrench it from its roots below.
Life can throw whatever it wants
That oak throws of all its taunts.
The winds may blow it to and fro
And leaves adorn may come and go.
Though it stands upon a rock,
Fixed firmly, nothing can shock.
But storms of life has! took its toll
Battered relentlessly against the tide
Its weary limbs lie bare and cold
No crown of glory, truth be told.
This Righteous oak no more stands,
Withered, gnarled, twisted,
Nothing left to see of such a man,
That once stood proud upon this land.

The Man You See
He goes to work each morning
often before it’s light
careful to remember
the things he must get right.
The traffic is often heavy
the sky is often grey
but he has to make the best of things
to get him through the day.
He goes back home each evening
sometimes after dark
too late to see those he loves
and take them to the park.
He feels a little weary
with nothing much to say
and slowly drifts off to sleep
too tired to save his day.
But deep in the heart of the man you see
lives the man he wants to be
free to live life his own way
true to himself, every single day.
A man who can make dreams come true
a man like me, a man like you
A man who can set his spirit free
to be the man he wants to be.
He goes to work each morning
the sky is often grey
and it’s just another day,
just another day…
often before it’s light
careful to remember
the things he must get right.
The traffic is often heavy
the sky is often grey
but he has to make the best of things
to get him through the day.
He goes back home each evening

A man who can set his spirit free

and it’s just another day,
just another day…
