Whats endowed behind our Shroud

Why is it we see "people of color"
instead of humans, and what lies within
Our covers are there to protect us,
not to be characterized by our skin

Yes, it is the first thing we see,
and for that it can be an impression
But it wont tell you what's in my heart,
or my name, or my current profession

Can it tell you my trials, tribulations, and thoughts
my hopes, or my dreams, or my friends that I've lost
Can it tell you about my education or skills
Or give you a hint about my depression or thrills

I have faith, beliefs, and love of God, who is good !
Without a discourse, how can that be understood
Sometimes we rush to our own bigoted conclusions
While still perpetuating some old time illusions

Stop, and don't judge, by our visual make up
a conversation might mentally, wake up
the thoughts of a person, much to our chagrin
make a better impression, than composition of skin

Not Scientific but Legal Objectivity Prevails

I ticked every box as mixed race,
a scientist objectively
answering the question in place.

But legal objectivity
accurately reflects the world.
Our shared irrationality,

says Lord Denning, is now unfurled
upon the Clapham omnibus:
reason in the common man's world.

His view is reasonableness,
and his view in this world prevails ...

This Race of Life and Death

Madre Maria de Dios...

I didn’t know—
A block over cooking tamales,
gardenias on the porch
vacation’s begun,
But I didn’t know!

For this warm night,
fiesta en la calle,
a truck careens
knocking over trash cans
riding two tires on their sides.

niños y niñas rien
I didn’t hear the pops,
chambers empty—
smell the smoke of summer
acrid stink of death.

She was left
to die alone on an
east L.A. street like a dog,
a nothing with no name,
till the choppers point the way.

Too numb to feel me
hold my baby in my arms
as she looks up,
her dull eyes ask ‘Por que mamá?’
no longer in pain.

something to consider:
at one stage or another
everyone alive
is blue

Perspectives of Race

Born of blood, raised in flesh
Somehow we seem to have lost touch
Forgetting that all our blood is red
seems to have mislead most of us

Imagine the skin of all humans being clear
We can see our organs, blood, and condition
The only difference between us is fear
Everything else is in the same position

Now imagine we're centuries in the future
and the aliens of outer-space have become friends
All our concepts of religion, race, and war
are crushed in our growth and raised common sense

Our mistakes of the past can be all but lost
Our hope for the future has no paradigm
Let's move beyond our presumed thoughts,
close our eyes and open our mind

THIS COMPETITION IS A MYTH

While variation exists
In poems
Thru people’s words…

There are no
Differences in letters used…

Thus seeing a world
Thru poetry
Is how a words elitist views

Excuse
Me?!

How about you write my poems from now on

Please note:
it is possible to recognize people
as equals
without saying
there are no differences
between them.

In fact,
I recommend it

Reality is no Myth

While I admire your gumption I must disagree
To say racism is a myth is a misconception
While most of wish that it simply did not exist
That's simply not the case and of it we are all to blame
To ignore it won't change or make it better only worse or the same
To call it a myth will not not make it go away
We all just need to be mindful  of it and say
Of this evil I'll do my best to play no part
For Satan's greatest trick is to convince us hell doesn't exist
You can't ignore what is plain to see all you can do is decide its not for me

I recommend the truth...there are cultural differences... not racial...race was created around 150 years ago to control people...Trotsky coined the phrase racism...If leftist would stop using race as a weapon to control minorities ...racism would die

Suffice it to say, you are wrong, there is plenty of evidence to show you are wrong, and posting a disingenuous poetry competition to try to put your views on a soapbox is a gross mis-use of the competitions here and this website in general.

The Ramming of Two Fists

I am what I’ve become.
Just had to say
to anyone who’d challenge
the depths of my mind…

Who have we become?
Creatures
blindfolded
before immorality’s throne.

We are angry people,
though we forget to shout
slanders when the opportunity
has awoken.

No more nonsense.
Bullshit’s curtains
may be cut.
Life’s portrait may be beautiful.

Beauty;
white and black,
stemming from crevices in the street.
Together we’re radiating.

You’ll not accept me,
should I accept you?

Welcome to Class

I see many if's and's or but's
So let's take this subject
And break class down into chunks

...

First module is the overview of genetics:
Many contributed to the human genome project
Yet
What they figured out is that were all based from the same
With the smallest deviation to that flea covered ape mane
Even the plants hold similar DNA
Basic components bound to this realm since it was made

But don't think to sit there and say that we are all the same
If we couldn't change
At different rates
We'd have all died by the first plague
Look at her beautiful, shining skin
Mutated, absorbs more melanin to fight the rays
How about his brightly colored red hair
In the hills of celtic waves misting the air
Epigenetics is our universe
Not junk
Significant, creating a multiverse

Consisting of uncracked You, Me, and He Who all speak volumes and think differently

No
We are not the same
Our genetics keep morphing with life's game
Regions of this wonderful, giving place     Ensure we survive through painful change

Some don't make it
Some do
Just be happy that in that chaos
There came you

...

Second module is the actual word race:
An expression
Definition
Simply a blanket to separate

Yet

Black and White
Seems odd at this time
Since separation
Is also vastly defined
It should not be contingent
Upon the use of the word race
It should not be associated
Yet we take it to this place

Does it mean we ignore both bountiful sections
Pretend it's not humans contaminating diverse creation
Culture
Beliefs
These are not us
But our races help birth the creation of trust
As we enter this long, dull boring life
Creating new dieties to meet at deaths scythe
There's music and beautiful primal things
To bring at the table to offer universal beings

So then..
Why put a separation between race and disparity
When the world could exist in both diversity and unity?

...

Module three, and this is the last one:
It's short but not sweet and kind of no fun
Its about how words are simply that         Inefficient to supply the expression of craft

Words are simple
Words are humanly defined
They are often misused
For selfish purposes of mankind

If you really want to find
A common ground
Regale in the fact
That were all savages
Unlike any ever found.
