Threshold of the Imaginary and Reality

poet Anonymous

For a DU Legend

Weird images sometimes I see
when I’m asleep
To her, I once arrived on the yellow short bus
sellotaped a note to a knife
threw it in her direction and shouted
“I hope you would have
and you did get the hard part!”
So twice I’ve been done and thrown off the premises
for rapping late at night in Tesco car park
Assault for throwing a weapon
and you fainting over holding a piece of paper
A microscope is needed over these scribbles
you’ve turned the page over
skipping the last part
I’ve got a horror story
and that hotel is called Mirror Whispers
starting the first chapter
and five-years away from a sequel
Can see who at that reception desk?
And not sure yet how I managed to get inside this painting
to stop the evil
I’m above the brown sofa
beside the 7up vending-machine
inside a boat
with two people discussing ghosts at his
Good Nights Await Hotel
and one guest really attracting a terrible foe
Trying to distract me from it
and handing me a teddy
Alex says
“Don’t let that crocodile enter your head at all, row.”
I told him that I love myself a nice American woman
maybe chill and watch
“Stranger Than Fiction”
my character, Hanna Twitch
could have been such a fairytale
last one was her thinking
I was Rumpelstiltskin that liked to stare, turn tables
and be able to work at her speed
I’m now trapped in an elevator
doors are being wedged open
and...can’t talk now, I’ll speak later

Distraction

Standing in front of the tall mirror
her eyes absorbed by her reflection
as if it were her, herself.
A covert admiration sneaked out in her stare
soon outdone by a surreptitious doubt
spreading between her and the reflection.

She had no time to unravel her cluster of thoughts.
It was his breath she felt
it was his head leaning on her shoulder
it was his lips almost caressing her ear.
"At last", escaped her a whisper, "You are here..."

"I'm not quite certain", she heard his voice,
"but tomorrow, or, many years ago, perhaps now, once, anyway...
I brushed my teeth to make you feel my biting sweeter
I shaved to make you feel my face softer between your thighs
I showered to make your tongue's journey unforgettable
I buttoned my shirt to bring  ecstasy trembling on your fingers
I scented to send your nostrils up in heaven..."

She felt
illusion and reality
melting within each other
- and both within her fluttering stomach -
as, slowly, she walked away from the mirror...
