Poetry Contest

Wait. What?
... that's how you shoud have reacted (Wait. What? People can do that with words.)

It's time for our "Poem of the Month" to be featured in the DUP 'Poem of the Month Hall of Fame' and on the official facebook page for June 2019!.

You have three weeks to nominate no more than two of you favorite poems from another DUP poet!

Please note the following when making nominations:

1. Self nominations are not accepted. The great majority of the competitions here are about spotlighting one's own work on a particular topic or theme.  This is a chance to nominate that poem that you wish you had written but some other great talent here beat you to it.

2. Please limit your nominations to TWO poems. You can nominate a single poem for two different poets; but the nomination maximum remains at TWO (no matter how many pseudonyms they have).  The majority of competitions on DUP cap nominations at one or two poems so there's no need to go beyond that.

No DUPLICATES. If someone nominates the same poem the entry will be deleted. If you like it that much wait and vote for it!

Any genre except erotica or pornography. This is a Facebook feature and we must adhere to their guidelines.

BIG CHANGE:

ALL POETS ARE ELGIBLE AT THIS TIME, INCLUDING PREVIOUS WINNERS!

Any member who is banned or disables their account PRIOR to the win will be automatically disqualified.

Any nominated member who wishes to opt out of the competition may do so by messaging me ( Poem-Worm ). I will contact the person who nominated you and request an alternate nomination.

Nomination Duration is three weeks followed by a week of site voting!

You Were my Lover

We did that
It was messy but that's where the lust lay
When the guilt bit hard
You wanted to be friends
We all know that's bullshit
Crash and burn lullaby
Nobody survives that unscathed

Then finally we became nothing
I don't hate you
I don't feel nothing
I don't even want to grudge fuck ya
Remember the old days
Bending you over my work desk
On overtime no less
Getting paid for our sins
That was something

We are a zero sum babe
I don't know if you cheated on me
We were already cheating on someone else
How does that cut
Chop meat that's how
Lovers don't eat rib eye steaks
They drink and grunt and get their freak on
You go home to Joe
Maybe you'll pass me in the gutter
Littered in shame but not sorry

The Fan

A strange fan letter was in my mailbox today
It was from Iraq but I opened it anyway

before I read I was curious and wondered
who still sends letters nowadays I pondered

the handwriting was tidy and neat
the punctuation was properly complete

it read:

I am your most avid fan
I always read you when I can

I very much like your digital art
and poems about people who fart

your dark poems are very dark
I like the one where the dogs just bark

I am always impressed with your angry rants
and artwork and poems about elephants

you work on creatures all great and small
but you barely mention the camel at all

are you camelist, or anti-camel
are you phobic about spitting tooth enamel

Have you consigned camels to the garbage dump
I am so full of rage, indeed, I’ve got the hump

and this could even come to blows
as you only reference is to camel toes

camels are not well represented
nor in a glowing light presented

I implore you to fix this mistake
this badly written poetic piss take

camels are clever, camels are cute
they are witty and wise and always astute

they can temptingly flutter their eyelashes
and carry heavy weights in camel race dashes

they are hard working and so versatile
there’s nothing lovelier when camels smile

I certainly have no axe to grind
but you’re driving me out of my mind

so in future in this age of mammals
please make sure you are kind to camels

Signed:

Your Faithfull Servant
Ali Ba-ba The Camel

P.s. I don’t send emails or texts as I don’t have opposable thumbs and my hooves are cloven. I am only able to smeeshe keyboards but can fit a pen between my camel toes.

The Beauty in Her Strength

Her body was a ruin
time's havoc in plain sight

Her heart a vault
victim to ages of pillaging

Her mind a hospital
tending to injured thoughts

But her soul remained fresh
braving the world with a lover's patience

Innocence

It hurts you again and again
making you wonder where it began.
At times its loud,
at times its proud,
at times its broken
but those times are unspoken.
Its innocent,
but not for long.
It grows up
and learns the wrong.
In the end,
there is no friend...
just the pain
that drives you insane.

In Every Step the Universe is Born – Sonnet Twenty-Eight

In every step the universe is born,
Yet every next brings everything’s destroy.
The grief of every fleeting moment worn
Is like a dream that every grief employs.

The mind contains the all of every’ shown,
Through every place and every time to NOW
And every sense that we have ever known,
Has only in our minds found its endow.

As Buddha found, in sufferings’ dismay,
That only “self” claims sufferings’ enthrall,
So “self” disowned brings sufferings’ allay,
So “no self” is a path that frees us all.

“No self, no suffering:” the dharma seems
To bring “know self, know suffering’s” redeem.

Eden

Rich be the soil in Lust's sacred garden       From his sweet Eden's lips -
in salutation and complacency of
his idolatry and worship:
gracious chimes her
praise of glory otherworldly
Annexed and twined in their
banquet of of sweet loves rapture;
salacity surrendered in meadows
of carnality - as one: they weld
Derivative of their abounding pleasure:
amongst their artistry of
sins -  to fruition comes a lush crescendo
of bountiful blessings
Rich then becomes their harvest in
Lust's sacred garden

Beneath Luna and the Stars

Collide with me as if a cluster of the most luminescent of stars
Like the moon eclipses the sun;                     conceal my body beneath yours as I also hide of your being within
Bathe with me in the the solace and tranquility beneath that nighttime sky;         to make of it __ ours
Oh, dear Luna; the light in which our inquisitive journey is lit
Our aura to be seen as we lay on God's green earth below;
twinkling and omniscient to her sky above   Conspire with me to create galaxies out of sweet loves ecstasy and primal, the same   So much so, as we align; pleasures sound forth to Heaven above....
That place from which the sun, moon and stars themselves hang

You Make Me Feel

Wanton winds whisper on satin sheets
and I think of you badly
I yearn for you crazily
       passionately in wanting
       obsessively in needing
       lustfully I dream of you
with your delicate fingertips all over
        my chapters
        in search of a dying
        faith's happy endings
Every night I wait for you to come to me
So I can let you taste the truth of me
an emotion deep inside your heart
       lingering softly,
       whispering secretly
       your pretty name
Alone, you are in my thoughts
your spirit's in my every breath
you have crawled into my heart
and rocked me ever patiently off to sleep
Oh how I crave your scent on my pillow,
Oh to feel the warmth of your soul on my skin.
savor a kiss from your moist lips,
have your hair cascade upon my chest.
Heaven is speaking loudly my angel
but the only thing I know baby
you're the one that makes me feel

Let Poetry Define Its Own Inspire – Sonnet Six

Let poetry define its own inspire
With words that convolute their standard mean.
For poets must in simple words conspire
To bring to life a world that’s never seen.

For how can love be like a red, red rose,
For how can life in coffee spoons be weighed,
For how can petals' silk or sea shells pose,
For guise of wanton gift of love’s purvey?

For certainly this challenge has me fraught,
For certainly my lusting I would share,
In verse that seems of other meaning sought,
That seems to catch the reader unaware.

So please, dear reader, seek between my lines,
My seek of deeper shares in love's confines.
