Sylvan’s Renewal

The tree is bare
Her leaves gone
by wind shear;
She lingers on

Strong sylvan pride
facing icy zephyrs’ chill
Her leaves departing
now branches lay
ever still

Summer Sun no
longer lingers
warmth the way He
did during windless
days of basking
beneath Her shade

Her roots now Her
only sustenance
combatting frigid
breezes;
awaiting Gaia to send
a renewal of
summery and
comfortable
indolency

though winter’s winds
persist
Spring WILL come again ----
a godsend conjuring
Nature to connect
with the seasons
universally in a
synchronicity of
loving renewal.

Camp Fire

Sonoma’s hot Diablo Wind
Sure ain’t no gentle breeze!
It stripped our bones of charbroiled skin
And vaporized the trees

Our village was reduced to dust
The carnage is complete
Anything that won’t combust
Just melted in the street

Was it worth the pretty view?
Or profits from our wine?
Sonoma earned my last adieu,
I’m sick of burning pine!

Eighty souls were lost that day
While criminals run free—
Pacific Gas refused to pay
By faking bankruptcy!

Configured in Disaster Winds

Configured in disaster winds,
The mountain fires of wolf blood moon,
With love’s wash spent like cartridge shells
That ring in road-edge' cluttered truth.

Her wary eyes concerned with blood
Configured in disaster winds,
That challenge every thought of me
In hands that wrench to give it rise.

The foul night gasps in strangle holds
Of darkest thoughts that fill her mouth,
Configured in disaster winds
And life spilled pitch, her sacred pray’rs.

Her head tossed back, regales the stars
That pause like coy'otes over death
In hunting packs on war stained paths
Configured in disaster winds.

I am the wind

I am the wind, of all the Gods’ children, the gentlest
I grant Earth her life sustaining power
I provide atmosphere for living things
Without me, creatures couldn’t breath and nothing would be green
However, don’t mistaken my maternal nature for vulnerable weakness
For my personality is quite capricious
When I am angry I can explode instantly,
With violent tantrums of tornadoes and hurricanes
Yet, I am most content creating harmony in nature instead
Listen to the sound of my psithurism symphony,
Whispering in the tall grass and rustling in the tree leaves
Here, I sing beautiful melodies with the gust of every breeze.
So, the next time you feel my sweet caress, remember this;
It is I, The Wind, who gives you breath

Windstorms

Nervous energy surrounds.

Enfolds.
Envelops.
Crackles.
Impels.
Inhales.
Draws into, then tosses around.
Compels.
Ignites.
Throws.
Thrashes.
Searches for port in an unknown land.
Pulls.
Pushes.
Slaps about.
Rejuvenates.
Moves north to south, back and forth.
Suffocates.
Pulls in.
Draws out.
Explodes.
Exhales.
Repeats.
Repeats.
Repeats.

New lovers in an old bed.

Not an official entry, as I just saw the ‘must be new’ part!

Boston Breeze

I remember how it felt, each
strand of hair, falling,
letting go—
giving up their fight against
the chemo.

The wind blew stiff that day, fresh
off the harbor
and I watched my tresses float
away in the air.

I shed tears
but not for my lost hair.
No
I cried because
through it all, you
only noticed yourself.

At least the birds
saw something of value
and used my locks
for their nests.

Windsong

( a Quatern )

Seems everybody else is going home,
I look around and all I hear is wind.
I stroll across a leaf-strewn patio,
The magic of a night that won’t begin.

The place is quiet, you can hear a pin,
Seems everybody else is going home.
I find my bag and coat when I go in,
Did I come with a date, someone I know?

I sip a flute of flat champagne and go
Out to the green, the wind begins to press.
Seems everybody else is going home,
It swirls around my clingy sequin dress.

I feel the night has eyes to take a chance,
A scented breeze as gentle whispers flow:
Excuse me, lover, may I have this dance,
Seems everybody else is going home.

Where the Wind Goes

Wherever the wind might take me, I will let it lead
Me there like a soldier getting ready for battle. It is
Like there is hope of a new tomorrow. It has freed

Me from all these chains and bonds. Above the fizz
And noise it is leading me right to the river’s edge.
I am coming home. My place among the tides and his

Gentle hands reaching out. I am closer to the ledge,
Peering over and letting the wind rustle through my
Curly hair. It pushes me away from the straightedge

Blade of a knife and towards the wind that will try
To breathe life back into me, away from the danger.
I am not quite ready to reach out and say goodbye.

It is like letting the wind come in as a stranger,
But the wind is also becoming life’s game changer.
