Where the Wind Goes
Wherever the wind might take me, I will let it lead
Me there like a soldier getting ready for battle. It is
Like there is hope of a new tomorrow. It has freed
Me from all these chains and bonds. Above the fizz
And noise it is leading me right to the river’s edge.
I am coming home. My place among the tides and his
Gentle hands reaching out. I am closer to the ledge,
Peering over and letting the wind rustle through my
Curly hair. It pushes me away from the straightedge
Blade of a knife and towards the wind that will try
To breathe life back into me, away from the danger.
I am not quite ready to reach out and say goodbye.
It is like letting the wind come in as a stranger,
But the wind is also becoming life’s game changer.

Fine work, eswaller. It has thematic resonance and power. I like the structure, and transition between stanzas. Excellent!

This is beautiful expressed, Elena. I love the metaphor of an unpredictable wind as a catalyst for change. The wind can be destructive, causing you to rebuild completely. Or, a gentle cooling in heat. It also touches on the fear that we humans experience toward the unknown.

Where the Wind Goes
Your name has popped up more than a few times in other areas of DU but this is my first visit to your gallery. This time, I've followed where the wind goes to land in a refreshing spot at the river's edge.
Apart from the strong imagery, the weaving and interweaving of your structure creates a subplot that supplants the dreary mind -- Enjambment (hemiola in music), Tercets, and Terza Rima, a Sonnet that is neither Shakespearean, Petrarchan, nor Spenserian (4 Tercets followed by a Couplet).
Quite beautiful in character and pleasingly intricate in composition.
