SOMETHING TO REMEMBER

Something to remember
When a momentary shift
Hurts your perspective
On the wider landscape
Making you think
Something is missing:
You've hit the jackpot
You are the jackpot

again

A painful intensifying longing
To release this ancient love
Held for eons
This one star I must find
Such puzzles in the clouds
The moon hiding from the sun
She is my long begotten heart
The half that brings the two parts as one
She brushes her spirit across my face
A gem that I see sparkling in the distance
She calls for me to shine with her
I must search through unknown rhyme
So the space matters not
Her time is everywhere
My spirit sparks all of her
We create our love a new
Having ridden ancient planes of existence
The circle completes
Our time in sync
Our journey looping
Now returning
To one soul again...
I found her again...
She sought me again...

We embrace again...

Capturing our space in this time
To never release again...

Her speed of darkness

Bringing new life to an old growth forest
Shadows traveling to become sunbeams
Fractal time piece clocking inward orbit
Thought broker sells a forgotten dream,

As two shadows kissing behind the light
Umbra cracks the daydream midstream
A thrill running up a leg to our hindsight
Penumbra seams a seal of love supreme,

All the while antumbra hangs her moonbeam,

Night to be the earth shadow across our minds
Three states of twilight cross eighteen degrees of time...

Smiling For Days

When you see her smiling and laughing it is the most
Beautiful thing anyone could ever see because even
With her gentle spirit no one would know that she
Was broken or hurt by someone else. Her west coast
Type of vibe is something she will always believe in
And no one could take that away. Her childlike glee

That rings loudly today because in the past it was her
Tears that took over. She stands strong because only
She knew what it was like to be vulnerably exposed.
Only she can be the one standing on top of a Big Sur
Mountain while realizing that she can be less lonely
And can conquer anything when she has disposed

Her old skin like a shedding snake. She recognizes
That being around those people who have elevated
Her spirits when she is down and makes her smile
For days are good people without any compromises
On her happiness. This is something she has waited
For her whole life and she makes it all worthwhile.

I'd first like to thank everyone who participated in my competition. I enjoyed reading all of your entries and the happiness they made me feel, so judging this competition was extremely difficult for me.

Congratulations to carpemax for winning my competition! Your poem, "Home", left a deep impression on me and I completely agree on how important having a loving home and family is. I couldn't help but smile and long for such a stable and peaceful family life. Well done!

Congratulations to first runner-up, eswaller. Your poem, "Smiling For Days" really resonated with me because I can relate to the girl spoken of in the poem. This is a fantastic example of how a person can recuperate from a devastating experience and move on to a hopeful and brighter future. Well done!

Congratulations to the second runner-up, Angelast. Your poem, "Poetry of Color #3 Blue" was a cute and fun read. It was quite uplifting and my favorite color happens to be blue, so nice work!
