Poetry Contest Description
see below
Hey all,
Hearing the right beat at the right time sends me into a flow state where the words, rhymes, and message more or less just pop out. I challenge YOU to write a poem to an instrumental beat (one example can be found below).
Recordings are not necessary, but if i cannot tell how your words would flow over the instrumental, you have little chance of winning. I will be looking at the message, flow, and delivery in that order. That is to say, do not be shy if you aren't confident in your ability to perform vocally, we all have to start somewhere! I have tremendous respect for those of you that put yourselves out there and record your work (especially if this is a first for you).
As far as recording goes, there is a simple free software called Audacity that i use to record. One can simply import the instrumental (file can be found in the google drive link below) and then a second track can be recorded on top of the MP3. Production value is not what I am looking for.
If you need any help whatsoever with the technical side of things, shoot me a message and i will happily assist you.
As far as other rules go, THIS MUST BE AN ORIGINAL POEM.
You are welcome to submit more than one poem, and you are welcome to collab with proper credit. If you use a different instrumental than the one i suggested, provide proper credit. Depending on the amount of entries, this comp will be opened to a vote.
Any questions? Just ask!

One more thing..
If there are poets here that have recording or spoken word experience and are willing to help others with getting started with recording, throw it out there in a comment please! We have a lot of talent up in this website, lets work together to create the best content we can!

Kissing in the Snow
Verse 1:
I'm walking down the path we both made when we first laid the plans
Ring in our new life...
Holding hands while we would run so far away from those who snuff our light
Shine on our new life...
Chorus:
Kissing in the Snow
The flakes fall on the road
She taste like wine
Still on the vine
I love her more each day...
Verse 2:
When we were only babes we would play and daydream all the day
About this mystery life...
Never knowing that we would wake from both our sleeps and see appear
Burn on our new fire
Chorus:
Kissing in the Snow
The flakes fall on the road
She taste like wine
Still on the vine
I love her more each day...
Solo
Verse 2
Chorus
lyrics ,vocals, video: Jeff Simpson(mindtrain)
