Poetry Contest Description
Give me your best polital slogans for 2016.
Anyone who believes that poetry has no significance or influence in our society has never studied the history of campaign slogans. Designed to engrave a specific thought on a voter’s mind, political slogans and short poems have been known to make, or break, a candidate.
So come up with you best political slogan for the year 2016. It can be about a political issue or specific candidate.
Examples
Tippecanoe and Tyler Too" – 1840 U.S. presidential slogan of William Henry Harrison.
"Free Soil, Free Labor, Free Speech, Free Men, Fremont" – 1856 U.S. presidential campaign slogan of John Fremont.
“Ma, Ma, Where's my Pa, Gone to the White House, Ha, Ha, Ha” - James Blaine
Refers to the out of wedlock child Cleveland allegedly had fathered.
After belonging to DU for some time I’ve finally mustered the courage to post a competition. Please approach this from a fun aspect. Don’t take me, or this comp. to seriously. This is more an exercise in artist sharing than it is a contest. And please refrain from making any comments about other’s contributions till after the results are posted. Respect all people’s beliefs whether you agree with them or not.
No more than three contributions. Two week deadline. Contest closes on May 9th 2016 at 11:00 PM.

stand out and stand up

Learn not to forgive, some people don’t deserve it

get drunk but not too often
smoke weed it makes you a nicer person
have imaginary friends but don’t worship them
greet adversary and fight it as a sworn enemy

don’t let anyone tell you you are nothing
its OK to be fat

This advice I give to you freely as a 53 year old man
who has seen and experienced much
joy, sadness, pain, horror, death
hopelessness, helplessness, abuse
laughter, tears, heartbreak
If I could have it all over again
I would live by the learned wisdom above
and live every day as if it was my last
