O Moon, how you feign
to be shy and lonely
You wear a mask of
innocence and purity
but that's a bait you use
to attract stars to misuse
How you play with their hearts
then leave them as mere discards,
O Moon, such a player you are
stars are nothing but tears afar...

That image of the moon as a great cosmic misleader is familiar in our culture. The word 'lunatic' (modern vernacular 'loony') is based on Latin for the moon, which was once believed to be the cause of insanity.
