"My father is well but his sight has almost gone, he can no longer read or write; nevertheless the doctors' advice is to wait a few months longer before attempting an operation -- for him the winter will be nothing but a long night" - Charlotte Bronte (Selected Latters)

..thought the last part was absolutely breathtaking

Well here is one personal favorite:

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." - Unknown

Many think it could be one of Albert Einstein quotes but it was never proven.
Hope you like it.

one of the quotes in an American diary my dad gave me in the 90's - can't remember the author

"to get something done a committee must not constitute of no more than  three members, two of whom are absent"

hah! -- quite clever ( ..I like it)

I actually also wanted to post a quote whose author I could not find/remember (you've encouraged me to do so xD)

"the smell of lilacs rising from the half moons of his teeth"
(if anyone knows where this is from, would appreciate a link)

lol! way i see it...coz we humans need constant reminders of the stuff the important, true, valueable and useful stuff we already KNOW... this will certainly help quite a few of us...  knowing is one thing..key is remembering to use it..
another one from that diary..again sorry author unknown... google search is giving some dubious dude credit for it.. it is NOT Navjot Sidhu  who said this...

"Experience is the comb that life gives you when you are bald" ... a few variants of this do exist purporting to be the original ones...

“Fuck you and the horse you rode in on”

“... I don’t think that’s very appropriate language for a lady”

“There are times when those are EXACTLY the right words to say.”

@Mr.Fusion ..what you were saying before, about how a quote thread is a good way to remind ourselves of important truths -- I think that's an awesome way of looking at it! ..(appreciate you saying so)
