I LOVE THE CHANGE
AS
the seasons change
and mother earth dresses
in new and beautiful clothing;
I love the changes in nature.
HOWEVER,
the change I love the most
is the change in my love for
YOU.
It grows DEEPER
EVERY DAY.
the seasons change
and mother earth dresses
in new and beautiful clothing;
I love the changes in nature.
HOWEVER,
the change I love the most
is the change in my love for
YOU.
It grows DEEPER
EVERY DAY.

Alfred and a church (rewrite)
Alfred and a church
The first time I met Alfred was in New York, where he appeared
on stage playing the sweetest of music.
I was alone and frightened, lost in an odd world of colors
Alfred, my father, followed me back to the ship, a night
that had a yellow haze and light rain.
For many years, I didn’t see Alfred, busy as I was growing
and yes, so many beautiful girls, so much to take in.
It was in later years, when broke and alone
that he appeared
playing sweet music, listening to my story, nodding his head
helping me up.

The Poppy
In fields where silence bows its head,
Red petals bloom, a blood-wrought thread,
Each poppy whispers tales untold,
Of brave young souls, both fierce and bold.
Through trenches deep, where shadows creep,
They stood against the tide, no sleep,
With hearts aflame, their courage bright,
They forged a path through darkest night.
Oh, let us bow, in quiet grace,
For every life, for every face,
Each poppy tells of loss and pain,
Yet sprinkles hope through trembling rain.
In gardens where remembrance...

Not a cloud in the sky.
This will be my last post on DUP .
The writers on this site are brilliant and prolific ,so much so that instead of writing I'm spending too much time reading .I need to return to my books. There is a fascinating variety of contributors here and without knowing each one personally, I think all feel compelled to write to help free themselves from suffering.
So for all those who have suffered please enjoy this piece from Rumi....one of my faves.

Sparkling Stars
Sparkling Stars up in the sky,
Watch them Sparkle so very High,
Up above a darkened night,
A showcase of stars dancing in delight.
They Sparkle so High in their rightful place,
The Light and beauty with love and grace,
Just look above wherever you are,
You might just catch a Shooting Star.
Sparkling Stars just watch them shine,
A Light display to me is fine,
Even with these darkened nights,
An Illuminating sky will feel so right!!!

CONFESSION OF A POEMOHOLIC
PLEASE
meet me at the
"Live Mike Club"
for our weekly meeting;
and I'll gladly confess
my addiction to writing,
reading, loving, tasting,
and more reasons why I'm
a confirmed poemoholic.
I'M
looking forward to hearing
your next poem created
by your addiction, too.

Whispers From Camel's Back
In a caravan of the red-glowing twilight
listening to the sounds of the piccolo
crossing dunes through the sands
following stars in the twilight's lantern
and dreams sleeping on my shoulder
echoing whispers from the camel's back

WHY I DON'T WRITE POETRY
I
must confess the
reason I don't write

IS
because
poetry
WRITES ME!

Feeling
May be the hardest job
You ever have
But at the end of the day
You can look back
And say
I DID THAT
And not one person
Can tell you
That you did it wrong
You ever have
But at the end of the day
You can look back
And say
I DID THAT
And not one person
Can tell you
That you did it wrong

a ship and Germany
a ship and Germany
Unter den Linden, I have a soft spot for the German language
when a toddler, I had free access to a military camp where
they had enormous horses and let me sit on top of one of them
(looking up horses, I think they were Belgian draft horses)
Since I was 5 years old at the time
I reserve the right to be wrong
My mother said I could speak a little German
I don't think so
but when the Brits and the Americans came
my few words of German were too soon forgotten.
In the late fifties, I was onboard an old ship that had...
