quarter past nine at night
an audio click
and then darkness
the display on the clock has vanished
no electricity
silence
torchlight and internet
despite the stillness the house breathes
a heartbeat barely noticeable
outside sounds come and go
ebbing away like the sea

validation that evaporates at the slightest touch.
Then emptiness.
Seeking more than superficial connections.
Human contact that is meaningful.
Real, thoughtful responses
that
build
strengthen
intimate
relationships
between us as humans.

The time of the operation of the machine is upon us
The time of the operation of the machine is upon us.
We forgot "to put our bodies upon the gears, upon the wheels
Upon the levers, all the apparatus and you've got to make it stop"
We're all shackled by the advancement of technology that we forgot who we are
Who's to say we are not also machines?
When smartphones fill our dinner tables.
When headphones, Google lens and Microsoft halo lens have imprisoned us in our "private" space.
When babies are born in tubes and bottles.
When one can desert their private parts for the other.

energies felt and absorbed...
was light the first technology based orb?
placed upon a grid of both math and molecule build
amassed locomotion to realize the visions being seen
building block by block
a mad genius of mass proportions
sound may have been the first break iin understanding
a language understood or sung
the sun is largely made of up nuclear energy

When televisions first became household objects,
some people were scared to undress in front of them,
the convex and glaucomic eye staring,
pervert cyclops, invader in the living room.
These days of course the eyes are much smaller,
rectangular, and with us at all times, not just
when mother’s home with fish-and-chips to eat before
