Snow poems, here you'll find poems about the white stuff. Poems about snow, winter and the festive period. Ice crystals, snow flakes and fluffy white snowy landscapes.
Twilight Trails in the Mountain's Hush
In the mountain's gentle cradle, where the quiet pines do play,
Under sun’s retiring light, the snowscape dons the cloak of day.
Skis carve silent paths with grace, in turns of silent might,
While nature’s hushed and whispered tones, slip into alpine night.
In the caress of solitude, where chill and vision fuse,
A waltz of shadows, light, and spark, the lonely path I choose.
Trails stretch out to touch my dreams, they reach with fading light,
As day's last rays tug soft at seams, and coax the coming night.
Soft is the swish of skis in eve, a...

our little cottage
our little cottage
wading in the snow,
inside, the fireplace alive
as it breathed warmth
into our world.

Big Bear's Winter Whisper
In the silent hush of Big Bear's embrace,
Where snowflakes dance with delicate grace,
A frozen canvas, under the sun's soft gaze,
Speaks of serenity in a million ways.
Footprints etch stories on the white expanse,
A testament to nature’s quiet romance.
Mountain air whispers through the pines,
In this haven where tranquility aligns.
Here, gratitude blooms like alpine flowers,
For this retreat with its timeless hours.
A balance struck 'twixt peace and play,
Where nature’s hand skillfully sways.
As skis glide and...

these windows
these windows,
my first
defense
against an
outside world,
one that
is beautiful
but often
too cruel,
taking away
my summers,
the brightness,
the warmth,
the colorful
and leaving
in its
place,
the almost
barren nothing
of winter.

Mourning Snow
I watch the white flurries fall
unable to count them all
one flake at a time
with no hope of weaving rhyme
For here in the dead of winter
I feel my thoughts now splinter
to buried places I have been
also endings I never did begin
How then to tally the cost
of every stanza then lost
just a part of this mosaic
forever trapped in the prosaic
Somehow losing my only way
caught up in the winter fray
of wicked winds now blown
tattering all that I had known
Still longing for poet dreams

True Steps
I seek to find an authentic place
where I may wear my truest face
revealing the real me
no longer conceal what I see
For the page is a field of snow
the only place I dare to go
leaving drops of my bled ink
right up to its very brink
Not marginalizing the edge
as I again keep my pledge
to be true to myself
leave others’ books on their shelf
Never dazzled by the sheen
of all that I have seen
but relish what has begun
with each new rising sun
Now setting off on foot
I dust off all of this...

Avalanche
My life is a mass of wet snow
clinging precarious with all I know
high above what lies beneath
with a truth I do dare bequeath
Lessons learned and unlearnt
as candles burned and unburnt
share yet hide their light
only disclosing within the write
Just as white light contains all hues
such are these choices we choose
such pure voices within the choir
sing with verity with the lyre
For poetry is my native tongue
one I mastered when I was young
sculpting hard ice into rhyme
hoping it would...

Enveloped
I love to find myself tucked away
up here high upon a shelf
able to say all I long to say
alone with no one but myself
With mountains that surround
cathedrals of grey craggy stone
echoing a soft silent sound
so that I may now atone
For both sacrament and sin
start at very same place
where they can end and begin
to return then finally replace
Under a blanket of winter snow
wrapped safe here all about
I again seek all I that did know
before these wild winds of doubt

Upon the Lift
I do love riding so high
thumbtacked to the very sky
surveying the slopes below
wondering which way to go
So many trails to choose
many ways to now lose
myself once again
in search of ink for my pen
Savoring the winter breeze
while I dangle my skis
try to untangle the strings
forget about all those brass rings
For when I get to finally ski
I find the truest me
sharing with the snow
all these secrets we both know
About the days yet to come
how they are greater than the sum
of all...

Snow Laden
A new layer of frosted white
is perfect parchment to write
the deep lines of this laden life
with its ample share of strife
Tracking tracks across the snow
feeling winter once again blow
its not so gentle reminder
how greed is but a bitter blinder
As we take more than we need
only to then over feed
a hunger forever unsatisfied
a lust never truly gratified
While White Elk and Lame Deer
each shed another tear
for all those who cannot cry
yet do not ever wonder why
As this pebbled rain now...
is perfect parchment to write
the deep lines of this laden life
with its ample share of strife

White Feather
Always as pure as new snow
you fly now with such flow
soaring highest in the sky
able to see beyond every why
High above the laden crowds
you communion with the clouds
share in their limitless view
seeing our world again anew
With a wisdom unending
a bold valiance unbending
I watch what you do
how your course remains true
For the passage of the years
weighs me down with tears
as I long to rise above
share in the peace of Dove
Share in the nobility of flight
in all the poetry I write ...
