summary of everyday
I woke up
2 hours late for school
2 hours too early for my biophilia
and just in time to disappoint my mom
i sit in bed
with dreadful covers over me
hating the loop of life
hating the rewind of it all
i take my time to get ready
praying i wont make it in time
hoping i won’t have to sit in my miserable desk
with my painful pencil
and my pathetic paper
i sit at lunch alone
counting the minutes til my next class
counting the hours left of school
counting the days left in this year
counting...
2 hours late for school

The minute I chose to continue my education
A lot of things began to change for me
I experienced a different kind of aspiration
Which instantly grew a new curiosity
It stated a thirst for knowledge and understanding
Through books and conversations with friends
For it was one of the ways to help my advancing
In the area of self improvement to make amends
Education also served as a constant reminder
That things are always changing and evolving
Keeping up with the hustle of the daily grinder

Our sire's sight, our mama's care
Our distinct cults and lives we own
Distinct tongues and Distances fair
Left we did, to the land unknown
In cage we stayed in the prison zone
Who will not miss the clarion call!
Earlier we woke than the land to serve
"Under the sun or in the rain" I recall
We stood and sang with skill and verve
The land we have, we vowed to preserve
Fun it was to a thousand and one
Man O War drill and lecture fright
Early waking for just a dry run
The soccer game and the fire night ...

There he is sitting in a sea of blue
We spotted him as he made that face
He’s waiting for them to call his name
It must’ve felt like the slowest fastest race
Here at these crossroads into adulthood
It’s a celebration and culmination of four years
Saying goodbye to friends and classmates
And carrying treasured memories of close peers
This is the first milestone of a young person’s life
Endless opportunities are waiting to be seized
And no matter what obstacles may lay ahead
I’m sure there are more things he’ll achieve

Two schoolboys, Dan and Josh, attended the Independent City All Age School in St. Catherine. In the evenings, they used to walk through a cane field near the school when they were going home.
