what (they call improvement)
rows
and rows
of established
trees
cut down,
animals displaced
from
their homes,
the land
stripped,
life giving
waters drained,
all for
the sake
and benefit
for mankind,
and this
is what
they call
improvement.

unconditional love
how
the earth
could still
love and
take care
of us
unconditionally,
even if
we act
as spoiled
children,
trying to
hurt her,
maybe one
day, even
murder her.

Son of Costa Rica
Leads us down river path
With angelic sun smile
He points to howler monkeys
Climbing high in trees
Where dreams bloom
His soul steeped in coffee
As he unpeels banana blossom
Until we arrive at time’s beginning
Where cool water flows
Over rocky stream bed
Our plastic raft
Takes us into deepening sunshine
Like a leaf broken from
A rubber plant stem
To float down the watercourse way
Until a flock of dark feathered birds
Gathered on shore ...

Atmospheric River (2023)
a river in the sky has fallen
onto all I see
water, gravity keeps calling
back towards the sea
from the mountains to the ocean
and everywhere between
water molecules in motion
are a living stream
ferocious in its tumbling fury
calming in its roar
as elemental forces cure the
desire for any more
condensation into raindrops
tumbling to the ground
longing now for when the rain stops
falling all around -
water molecules in motion
liquid lusciously
make a kind of magic potion
and...

upon a rock
she pulls me
she draws me
the meandering of her stone
the peebles and their echoing tones
whirls, swirls and the vortex, her drop
momentary pauses but never to stop
distance carved in a sediment's path
lending herself as nature's humble bath...
my mind drifts
a spiritual cleansing
for a split second, witnessing.
the tugs, as comforting
as gentle as hugs.

River
I have felt the ebb and flow of this life,
caresses and tides,
spiraling through my body,
twisting and turning me
into unraveling flows of energy
Languid,
formless,
meandering,
I circle and whirl and whisk,
rushing, slowing, losing my breath,
yet never dying away
I flow to no cardinal in particular,
but every pebble,
every current,
every shore I kiss,
is where I was meant to be all along,
sweeping waves of my own quiet resolve,
bringing with me granules of earth
and washing away again...
caresses and tides,
spiraling through my body,
twisting and turning me
into unraveling flows of energy
Languid,
formless,
meandering,
I circle and whirl and whisk,
rushing, slowing, losing my breath,

Jill's Off The Grid <pipe> In the Old Day
In days of old, when cities rose high,
And noise and crowds filled up the sky,
There lived a maid named Jill, who sought
A life beyond the city's fraught.
For Jill had always felt suffocated,
By the hustle and bustle unabated,
Of people rushing to and fro,
With faces blank and hearts aglow.
The pollution and the constant noise,
Left her feeling drained, like an empty poise,
And in her heart, she longed to be,
Where nature's beauty could set her free.
She dreamed of fields of green and gold,
Where flowers...

The White Water Cannon Of Llangollen
Roaring rapids
A deluge of water
Crashing over rocks
An unstoppable force
Meeting an immovable object
As the froth
Of foamy cascading spray
Explodes!
Like a cannon shot
Of white powder
All this i see
As i'm sat
Drinking tea
Right by
The River Dee

My Poems Stream
My poems,
are an endless
river stream.
There will always
be another one,
endlessly flowing.
It is the river,
and yet it
is also the
fish within.
Jumping out
so excitedly,
like such
beautiful fishies.
an endless
stream
of
poems...
are an endless
river stream.
There will always
be another one,
endlessly flowing.
It is the river,
and yet it
is also the
fish within.
Jumping out
so excitedly,
like such
beautiful fishies.
an endless
stream
of
poems...

Cathy
Cathy, the woodland queen,
A vision of beauty, serene,
In the forest she finds peace,
A world where worries cease.
But come Sundays, she'll roam,
To the river, a second home,
Her skin kissed by the sun,
In the water, she has fun.
Her curves, like hills, rise and fall,
As she surrenders to nature's call,
The sun caresses every inch,
Her beauty, a temptation, a cinch.
And I, an onlooker from afar,
Captivated by her body, a star,
My heart beats with desire,
For Cathy, a passion, a fire.
A vision of beauty, serene,
In the forest she finds peace,
A world where worries cease.
But come Sundays, she'll roam,
To the river, a second home,
Her skin kissed by the sun,
In the water, she has fun.
Her curves, like hills, rise and fall,
As she surrenders to nature's call,
The sun caresses every inch,
Her beauty, a temptation, a cinch.
And I, an onlooker from afar,
Captivated by her body, a star,
My heart beats with desire,
For Cathy, a passion, a fire.
