Elizabeth
Early memories have me counting
jellyfish as we ferried
across polluted, weak-coffee water
There were the days I spent in fear
of some dreaded illness
after tumbling out of that little rowboat
my best friend "borrowed" from a neighbor
How we didn't get stranded
in the middle of the river
I'll never know
There's something magical
about being twelve years old
It's still a thing of beauty
when fireworks reflect off the surface
and at the right angle
on a clear day
it masquerades as...

Union
The sangam of Ganga and Yamuna
is a homosexual union
charming but sterile
my friend knows well
the road to heaven doesn't go
through snaky waters

singing water
can you
hear
the water
singing
while
leaving
its mother,
there is
an
abundance
of freedom,
sometimes
she runs,
other times
she walks,
even
though
given a
chance,
she could
leave her
confined
area,,
she
chooses
to stay
in between
the
shorelines.

water (in nature)
the warmth
of the sun
catching me
standing
there
at one
there
of my
favorite
chosen
scenic edges,
trees and
blue sky
copied on
the surface,
while slight
hills
dominate
each side,
caressing
her flow
downward
into lands
below,
and i
stand still
while
daydreaming
with her.

waterfall (her kisses)
how free,
willing, she
articulates
herself,
sunlight,
shadows,
she is
fluent,
her kisses
betray
her desires,
her glancing
skin
touching
stones
before parting.

and i drank from that stream
how such
clouds became
headstrong,
but i
heard it
wasn't personal,
somehow
things still
looked lost,
but, the
rage sounded
elegant,
the storm
ran across
the land,
i took
its ambition
very seriously,
but now
we have
made peace,
i listened
to
the waters
crash onto
the banks,
and i
knelt down
beside
and i
drank from
that stream.

Nature's Enigmatic Tapestry
Meticulously arranged, the elements unfold,
A table of wonders, complete and clear.
Ideals of balance, explosions held at bay,
As the winds whisper, waters flow, life stirs.
Fragrance and the invisible intertwine,
Mechanisms shrouded in mystery's embrace.
Boundless, complex as the stars that shine,
The earth, a creation born of the Creator's grace.
Yet humans, like ignorant children, roam,
Eager to dismantle the home that gives them life.
The Creator, concerned, crushed nature's codes,
Scattering the pieces,...
A table of wonders, complete and clear.
Ideals of balance, explosions held at bay,
As the winds whisper, waters flow, life stirs.
Fragrance and the invisible intertwine,
Mechanisms shrouded in mystery's embrace.

floating stream
i want
to make
a connection
with that
floating stream,
that surface
and stages,
all plump
and
well fed,
the rains
repeating
certain themes,
some desire
and restraint,
to feel less
of a victim,
more of
a villain,
to drown
what lays
in its
destination..
to make
a connection
with that
floating stream,
that surface

Red River Willie
Red River Willie
Red River blues
sung by bearded prophet
of western visions
whose cigarette voice
rolls with muddy water
on course for father of waters
while soothsayer of song
plays the harmonica
for crickets chirping
on the banks by the railroad tracks
where old men dream
of days sifted into silt
where the whippoorwill fades
in a dusky hollow

The Seen and Unforeseen
I had just succeeded in shaking the world off, like a Pop! and started my journey alone up the mountain. No one wanted to go with me, and I didn’t waste any time on the offer of such an adventure.
It was as though I had been waiting on a sign from God my whole life, and had just gotten an answer, telling me I could go. I readied to get myself together. I felt blessed with a mind that lay wide open to receive such a treasure and began the journey. I was going to write a book. And even though I had been thinking about this swell book since I was a little girl. I didn’t know...
