The Earth Speaks with Anger
I am Earth; I am a life form that can live forever.
My formation is a spectacle to behold.
I am the most beautiful planet in the constellation.
From my soil, humans were taken.
And to my soil, they will certainly return.
Mortal beings have a short lifespan.
I keep all creatures alive for a limited time.
Mankind is an undesirable being.
I regret that man was made out of my resources.
Foolish humans have polluted my atmosphere.
I can hardly protect myself from the sun.
They have spoiled my beauty with deforestation.
My pure water...

Rochelle’s heart sinks. Also in the message is a plan for the rapid conversion from a communal economy to a free market one. And so a few years down the line a multigenerational ecosystem habitat arrives in orbit around their planet. Jim convenes a council meeting to discuss the implications of these new settlers for their community.
The first delegation from the strangers above...
