Pushing daisies
This Saturday has sadness in the summer clouds
feel I ought to go home, don’t know why?
A place I have not been to for fifty years
I dismissed the thought as sentimental trash
Is It!
When my dog died in an accident in Faro town
I drove through a rainy night to bury her
Where she was born
Felt it was my duty to her
Was it!
As a modern man, I know it doesn’t matter
Where we die, the soil is either dry or damp
If there is a longing to rest under turf known
Has it got a meaning, or is it soppiness?

Visions of Wicca (The Gypsy)
Rhiannon rings like a bell through the night
And wouldn't you love to love her?
Takes to the sky like a bird in flight
And who will be her lover?
All your life you've never seen
Woman taken by the wind
Would you stay if she promised you heaven?
Will you ever win?” Stevie Nicks
She has a darkness
that still shines a light
as bright as a pulsar......a thousand light years away
quietly she is
the star of a story
that I'd always long to tell
...on my distant trek to...

The Witches Lullaby
Elegant naked bodies
dancing beneath the
ethereal moon.
Demons lurk in shadowy
realms, midnight approaches
as devils swoon.
They sway and chant,
at the haunted sky,
singing wistfully the
witches lullaby.

Wonders of wonders
The greek poet Hésiode (VII B.C.)
Has Oizys, the greek goddess of misery
Born from Nyx, the goddess of night
Without human intervention.
Amazing. Meanwhile the Catholic Church
Has Mary do the same
From the hands of........the Holy Spirit?
Christianity's heritage stems from a good deal
Of mythology and paganism (look at the lovely tradition
Of Christmas)
Now for the greek god who resurrected
And flew up to the sky?

Winter’s Thaw
frigid
night air
pierces
new holes
through
my heart
it’s the start
of spring
birds sing
last year’s
crisp leaves
graze the
frozen ground
with a sound
like dry brush
strokes
that evoke
all the senses
wind is reckless
a painted canvas
of neon sunset
hangs overhead
chitter chatter
can be heard
from chipmunks’
holes
stretch my toes
bugs buzz
around
our home
but it’s still
a bit too cold
for flowers’
arrival
their survival ...

Anamnesis
And they lived happily ever after
An expanse of laughter lines
Warmly consoled their souls
Until the twilight of old age
Rested itself in their home
Bones no longer clattered
Night came, stars shown
And dawn found them
Huddled together
In everlasting
Peace
Birds sang in grief
At the sunrise
As our spirits drifted
Toward the skies
Wide eyed as one
Together, we’re never alone
In our lover’s arms and
In each other’s hearts
We are never lost
Or forgotten
We are...

The Witch's Knot and the Rosary
The Wicca witch was covered both ways
For on her person she carried both her rosary
(Fifty Hail Mary with beads fifty)
And her witche's ladder
A string of forty beads, or sometimes just forty knots
The Witch's Knot of Clovis days
Not much different from
The prayer ropes of
The Desert Fathers of the third century
The Vita Christi rosary, dated to the year 1300
As discovered by theologian Andreas Heinz of Trier
Beads, knots, whatever
A matter of protection for others and her
Intriguing closeness of numbers

an empty room
Sunlight comes through in a strong singular ray
Alighting the stark white walls with a lively vigor
So strong it draws out the hints of sherbet orange
Buried deep in the color of sun bleached white
My mind fills the small space with two perfect ideas
A modest bed covered in heavy cloud soft blankets
Entirely too many pillows impossible to escape
A perfect hiding place for those who need respite
But then I imagine a room featuring my claw foot table
A dark navy velvet table cloth shimmering in the sunlight
Draped over in such a moody yet...

This Old Man
The cry of the wolf knows not he is the inheritance of the waning moon
Interchanging aggression for passion drip of desires darkness shall swoon
Howl unto me my night creatures, feast of the blood
Fangs dipping in ripen flesh in the name of love
London Bridges falling down human immurement sacrificed limbs to keep its crown
What goes up Vikings burned it to the ground
Bodies encased in its moorings hushed without the Queens' sound
Watering graves erected beams
Entombed, no...

Hush Little Baby
Hush little Ferret don’t say a word
To the slaughterhouse in union, you fly with the birds
On a Hallows Eve the Crows we hear squawking in the night
The Owl and Parrot soaring to the stars to take flight
As the Pink Panther hunts for his prey
In his hand a dagger used, a pheasant he will slay
Vultures in feast
Rejoicing in the stench of rotten meat
Unto the Red moon black robes joined at the hands
Around the flickering flames we all will chant our offerings, swaying to the drums as we dance
Ghosts, Ghouls, Goblins, and Vampires, roam...
