Hymn to the Mother
This one is for women.
Childless women.
The ones who have been
asked with that curious eye
“So why don’t you have kids?”
as you turn to say “actually
it’s got fuck all to do with you,
Sandra”
and it hasn’t.
Not a thing.
Because I think of my womb
as priceless—
so priceless, my child
could not afford to stay
and so
I cut out the shape of my Evey
as though she is a paper-doll
and motherhood is the scissors
I curl
her hair as if it is bright ...

Ostara
Monastic ripples fade
in gratitude we bowed our heads
to celebrant silence
I dream in hints of hibiscus
white crowned magnolia blossoms
have covered this path
I came here to bring the last salmon home
entered into miasma wind
magpies mimicked
vernally so
I was not defined by name
now I am earthen
gestating

A Secret Word
when the world is quiet it gives back if you know the magic word
The word is whispers
On the breeze while first snows
Sprinkle once green grass,
Now the earth is white,
Leaves are like angel flakes
Adorned in ice robes,
The wind bares the word
Of the ice giant Jotun,
Speaking "wolf" to moon,
When the wolf howls
He causes access to stars,
Twinkling your wishes.

Winged Things
Fair dragon lace-winged things
Alight upon lillied springs,
Infared be their visions
Redolent, balmy as nights passions;
Yellowing eyes crystalline glowing
Lifted to indigo skies, returning
Amidst clouds hovering round the moon,
Nescient of other-kinds commune
Dwellings, whereby wakened, not stirring.

The Waning Moon
all of my shadows shine brighter with the sun rise
all of my sins show clearer through the devil's eyes
broken prayers, screaming at the sky
cursing christ for the mercy betrayed by the lack of forgiveness
his children keep taking away from me
falling away from the grace they promised every morning
filled with so many lessons, i've long since forgotten
with the years, gone by, loving, losing, tormenting
all of my shadows shine brighter with the sun rise
all of my sins show clearer through the devil's eyes
all the tomorrows...
all of my sins show clearer through the devil's eyes
broken prayers, screaming at the sky
cursing christ for the mercy betrayed by the lack of forgiveness
his children keep taking away from me
falling away from the grace they promised every morning
filled with so many lessons, i've long since forgotten
with the years, gone by, loving, losing, tormenting

all of my sins show clearer through the devil's eyes
all the tomorrows...

Triple Moon Goddess Tarot Blessing
Lay an altar cloth upon the table. light candles, incense, whatever you will. Take a few deep breaths and clear your mind. Place the deck before you and recite:
I seek the wisdom
Of Triple Moon Goddess
Oh Maiden
I implore you
Shine your light
Oh Mother
I implore you
Feed my soul
Oh Crone
I implore you
Point me in the right direction
That I may serve the Goddess within
without, throughout, and about
above and below
In every way
So it must be
I seek the wisdom
Of Triple Moon Goddess
Oh Maiden
I implore you
Shine your light
Oh Mother
I implore you
Feed my soul
Oh Crone

Pushing daisies
This Saturday has sadness in the summer clouds
feel I ought to go home, don’t know why?
A place I have not been to for fifty years
I dismissed the thought as sentimental trash
Is It!
When my dog died in an accident in Faro town
I drove through a rainy night to bury her
Where she was born
Felt it was my duty to her
Was it!
As a modern man, I know it doesn’t matter
Where we die, the soil is either dry or damp
If there is a longing to rest under turf known
Has it got a meaning, or is it soppiness?
Is...

Visions of Wicca (The Gypsy)
Rhiannon rings like a bell through the night
And wouldn't you love to love her?
Takes to the sky like a bird in flight
And who will be her lover?
All your life you've never seen
Woman taken by the wind
Would you stay if she promised you heaven?
Will you ever win?” Stevie Nicks
She has a darkness
that still shines a light
as bright as a pulsar......a thousand light years away
quietly she is
the star of a story
that I'd always long to tell
...on my distant trek to...
And wouldn't you love to love her?

The Witches Lullaby
Elegant naked bodies
dancing beneath the
ethereal moon.
Demons lurk in shadowy
realms, midnight approaches
as devils swoon.
They sway and chant,
at the haunted sky,
singing wistfully the
witches lullaby.
dancing beneath the
ethereal moon.
Demons lurk in shadowy
realms, midnight approaches
as devils swoon.
They sway and chant,
at the haunted sky,
singing wistfully the
witches lullaby.

Wonders of wonders
The greek poet Hésiode (VII B.C.)
Has Oizys, the greek goddess of misery
Born from Nyx, the goddess of night
Without human intervention.
Amazing. Meanwhile the Catholic Church
Has Mary do the same
From the hands of........the Holy Spirit?
Christianity's heritage stems from a good deal
Of mythology and paganism (look at the lovely tradition
Of Christmas)
Now for the greek god who resurrected
And flew up to the sky?

Winter’s Thaw
frigid
night air
pierces
new holes
through
my heart
it’s the start
of spring
birds sing
last year’s
crisp leaves
graze the
frozen ground
with a sound
like dry brush
strokes
that evoke
all the senses
wind is reckless
a painted canvas
of neon sunset
hangs overhead
chitter chatter
can be heard
from chipmunks’
holes
stretch my toes
bugs buzz
around
our home
but it’s still
a bit too cold
for flowers’
arrival
their survival ...
