Sometimes
Sometimes]
In the dead of night, when I'm all alone
Reality seems squishy, the day's strife is done.
Not quite awake and not quite asleep
I don't know if the nightmare is over
Or about to begin
Let me try this again....
In the night season, when I'm all alone
Reality blurs the sounds of the night.
It's just not right, the body is weary
but the mind will not unload.
Again....
I'm all alone chilled to the bone
Alone, alone, reach for the phone
No one to call, no one at all, fall
I'd fall...
In the dead of night, when I'm all alone
Reality seems squishy, the day's strife is done.
Not quite awake and not quite asleep
I don't know if the nightmare is over
Or about to begin
Let me try this again....
In the night season, when I'm all alone

It's just not right, the body is weary

Again....
I'm all alone chilled to the bone
Alone, alone, reach for the phone
No one to call, no one at all, fall
I'd fall...

Dreaming of Home
I woke up beside you, in a house that we own,
sobbing and broken ‘cause I couldn’t find home.
The dream was so vivid, the feeling so raw;
an aching realization I’d been here before.
No one to guide me, found my way on my own,
following my instincts, somehow I knew the road.
I set out across the water, though I couldn’t see the way;
unseen creatures threatening, but I kept the fears at bay.
When “HOME” finally appeared as if out of thin air,
I could tell everybody was already there.
They’d gone on without me, not thinking to wait, ...
sobbing and broken ‘cause I couldn’t find home.

THE ADVENTURE OF STUMPY AND THE DUMPSTER BOY
A three legged dog with brown curly fur waited in the alleyway.
The dog’s name was Stumpy.
The rain and ice had cracked the concrete. Years of waste had washed through. It was slimy and grey.
A boy of seventeen, ragged, hungry, and pale, was rummaging around a dumpster.
Stumpy barked.
A man dressed in beige grabbed hold of the Dumpster Boy and pulled him out. It was the manager of the Magnificent Burger House. He was sweaty and salty and his moustache covered his mouth.
“What are you doing in my Dumpster?”
The boy had hold of a bag of mouldy...

My Monster
When the dark hours rang,
I remained inside,
Locked away from the danger,
Breathing behind doors,
As my parents had warned
To be safe,
Embraced in my blanket, I slept.
While claws crept from beneath the bed,
Where my monster hid,
The one my parents had left,
To rest at ease.
I lay engulfed in my sheets,
Waiting for the promised tricks,
That carved out my nightmares.

I choose my nightmares wisely
the doctor writes me a script
for one of the few drugs I’m not on
and I need them to stop this—
the silver shivers
the waves of nausea that journey
volatile seas in inadequate rafts
sometimes I wonder if life
would be different without pills
as I take stock of my body
how I lay at a 45 degree angle
feeling as if the bed is a millstone
nightly grinding away parts
of my life and my spine
how the atrophy in my muscles
is setting in, and I feel it every time

Laying in the dark
Laying in the dark
It's late in the dead of night, you are laying in your bed reading on your phone, then you get the strangest feeling like you are not alone
You put your phones light on, you scan it around the room, then you hear a crashing noise, like a falling broom
The sound was unexpected, it makes your heartbeat race, you feel the fear rising, is someone in your place
You switch the bedside lamp on, you're straining with your ears, the possibility of a intruder, has awakened child like fears
Fears of the Boogeyman, the monster who...

Slow Murder of an Eternal State
If hell has a true heart
It must be surrounded by an impenetrable dark,
“Strengthened by the souls of the unbeliever
Lead by the ultimate deceiver,
“Who sits upon a throne within an extradimensional hall
Decorated by fallen heroes and fools on its wall,
“The greatest live a tortured living death
Denied through painful magic their last breathe,
“A nightmarish realm that feed up itself
That tricks one’s mind that it’s in pearl and needs help,
“Creating a mirrored paradise of unimaginable pleasure
Because it want supreme value...

The Visitor
Rolling onto her side, she reached for the pillow and pressed the cool fabric against her face. For a long time, she lay like this, listening to the steady rhythm of her breathing, longing for sleep, yet dreading it in case she remembered the night of the party and the missing hours.
Later, the sound of footsteps broke into another restless dream about prison. Soft, purposeful ones on the stairs – unlike Bill or Meg’s or the boys’. Footsteps treading up the old narrow staircase to the landing, stopping outside the study where she lay in the dark, unable to move or make a sound. ...

Avoidance Avoided
Avoidance Avoided
At the breaking
Apart
Of the shackles
Of reason
Excuses
Run dry
At the seams,
And everything
After
Might be
A disaster
Except
When they visit
In dreams.

Of the shackles
Of reason
Excuses
Run dry
At the seams,
And everything

Might be
