Kino Hospital
Been in psych before,
but Kino’s the worst,
Don’t know how people are supposed to get better
in a place like this,
The air is stale,
no open windows,
no fan, no fresh water
Man, stay calm,
I gotta breath
fresh clean air, I thirst…
Nurses & orderlies on power trips
they do not try, no,
No help or relief comin from them,
No private shower,
you use the public shower,
Where you walk in barefoot
with the shit stains on the shower floor & wall,
no warm water, just ice cold water,
that stays on for 15...

The Myth of Mythos
"We need images and myths through which we can see who we are and what we might become."
〰 Christine Downing 〰
MYTHOS AND LOGOS
In Ancient Greek ways of thinking, patterns of imagining, and waves of feeling Mythos and Logos appear as fraternal twins. Both carry a range of meanings, which lead time and again to the same essence 〰 captured in the English symbiont word.
Logos and Mythos cover the whole territory of phenomena which rely on and are nurtured by the spoken word ::: speech, account, tale, story,...

The Wild Motherword
The Backstory of Knowledgetrees
Among all sacred trees of the world, the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil has a unique reputation. She turned out to be perhaps the most prolific cultivar. Despite the fact that she produces the forbidden fruit, she’s managed to sow her seeds far and wide 〰 or did the taboo-factor give a boost to scattering those banned pips?
When the suckers of the Tree of Knowledge reached the Northwest of the Old World 〰 along with the shoots of her companion plant, the Tree of Life 〰 they usurped Yggdrasil and Irminsul and many...

Canvas
a brief history of the English word canvas, including what sailing, painting, and the American flag have in common with jeans and politics
When Christopher Columbus set sails in 1492 to discover a new route to India his ships were powered by wind and canvas. Renaissance artists of the same era painted their masterpieces on canvas. Canvas was still used by the Dutch masters Vincent Van Gogh and Rembrandt in the 17th century.
Betsy Ross wasn’t an artist. But in the biography of the word ‘canvas’ she has a unique place. Her name is remembered for sewing the first American...

Raindancing in a Desert Through a Timewarp
You are a one-way Time machine headed ever deeper into the future. Time wedges itself between you and the past and grows, pushing you further apart. That distance doesn’t generate clarity or insight, but it can be a room where Hope and Disappointment learn how to have a conversation, so Hope doesn’t grow up to be Expectation or Attachment. Complicating matters, your central processor can glitch: interrupted interpretations, inventing false inventory, introducing a retroactive, unintentional attention intervention. Hindsight 2.0 is not effective antivirus prevention as advertised. It’s not...

Digging Deep One More Hole
I never meant to be so heartless, yet sentiment can't help explain.
It seems a means to an end regardless, if there is proof to fault or blame.
Another night is spent in darkness, judgement and level head is regained.
Day break is civilized, Dawn is harmless. Now that I'm civil once again.
As I dig in the dark near the car I have parked, so the headlights can shine-
Cause without them I'm blind. Hours ago I awoke to a timeline that broke.
Look passed mirrors through smoke. Tricks were played on my mind.
It's true when they say that time flies,...

Welcome to the Trench
Intro:
Welcome to the Trench
You know, let me give you a step into my world
My city has a few names, but now we call it the trench
I know you’re wondering why we call it that
But give me a moment to explain that
It’s a meaningful story I’m about to tell
So bare with me me, yeah
Verse:
Let me tell a story, about a small city called the Grip
They used to call it that, but now they now they call it the trench
A metaphor to describe the city as a deep, muddy old ditch
It’s extremely hard to get out of, once you trip and fall...

Hell yeah I’m on point I see you and your boys chit fucking chetting
Eyeing the goods but yo I’m not sweating
I’m a fiend for this shit, a maestro at shirt wetting
The best way to clean the wound is a little blood letting
Watch me move as I move weighted down as I slide
Is it the gat or the stash got me lubed like KY
Fucking plan your next move but remember this isn’t checkers it’s chess
Play me for a pussy bitch but let’s see who wears the black dress
Black mask, dark clothes, and lying prone watching both your doors
A sniper locked...

Silent, The Bach Suite
Two Years Earlier, Gavin
Philippa's turn to perform came after the coffee break. She played an entire Bach Suite from memory. Personally, I thought she looked stunning on stage, but I wasn't sure about her choice of repertoire. It didn't seem that interesting and Bach isn't the best composer to play in a major piano event.
She received mixed feedback, like I had. On one hand, Agnes said, she played competently with a developed technique; on the other hand, the Suite lacked originality, or any emotion at all, and this came across in the performance.

The First Pimp
All the weight of the world was on her shoulders
From traveling for water
To looking for wood
that was becoming scarcer and scarcer
Finally coming upon what she considered a honey hole
She wondered why no one had found this spot before
Plenty of wood and water for the collecting
But upon closer inspection she found a lone inhabitant
He claimed it all for self
There were men of her clan that could easily best him
And then claim all that he owned
But in the most seductive voice he invited her to sit
