.
Love is the same and opposite game .
Love takes and gives. It’s hate and like and tolerance .
It’s loud and silent when it’s in a mood and wants to teach a lesson or make its point as it was either hurt or annoyed . It’s new and old it’s all about the two of you desperate to spend time together. It’s also did you put the bins out and fill up the dishwasher and make a cup of tea . The expansion of more two children under the age of four . With a bank balance that aches as much as two parents do who are tired to the bone with a balancing act of up against it financially and mentally and how many times have I asked you just to...

Midnight Lullaby
My midnight sun, you are the light in the abyss
You shine brighter than the galaxies and their ancient stars
I thank God every night for granting me my greatest wish
To bring you into the world and hold you in my arms.
-
My sweet child, there is wisdom in your gaze
Your pure essence brings a cleansing to the world
Let the cosmic light cleanse you of this earthly pain
Feel it sink into your skin and your soft curls.
-
Hush now, I will dry all your tears
While I draw breath, you will not lack in anything
Our hearts beat as one when we...

womb eater
a disease eating the womb
itching in your blood
crawling into the cracks
of your broken reflection
motherhood is craving
wrapping bandages against
a nonexistent wound
telling yourself it's okay
i'll be your pretty girl
that is something i can be
all that i am good for
my body will kill me soon
wilted ovaries, i can't
carry on this bloodline
i would never willingly
give someone this skin
i can't be a mother
itching in your blood
crawling into the cracks
of your broken reflection

wrapping bandages against

To Mother With Love
She rises before the sun
her day has just begun
with chores and tasks to do
her love, she'll always pursue
From her children's smiles to her husband's touch
her heart is filled with love so much
no task too great, no distance too far
her love shines bright like a star
Her days are filled with busyness
with hardly a moment of idleness
yet she always finds the time
to show her love, so pure and kind
Her dedication knows no end
to family, she'll always tend
always there to lend a hand
or a shoulder on...

Mother's Majesty
Your wombs provided us with shelter
As y'all prepared to become mothers
Cultivators of seeds implanted by man
Lifetime suppliers of helping hands
Demands upon you must weigh a ton
Doesn't matter if daughter or son
You're one in a million and we love you so
To whom much is given; you know how the saying goes
You take life's blows as you raise us up
When feeling empty, you pour from another cup
Your sup serves up sustenance for the soul
To exalt your magnificence is today's goal
Tolls can be hefty on the roads...

Terrified
No matter how well things are going,
I cannot be happy
while one of you isn't.

nuclear war wished for
A nuclear war wished for
There is among the youth of the West an ingrained boredom
a hidden wish to swipe away from the old world they live in
they can’t see for mist on windows and need to clear the view
the dream of an exploding world where they will be survivors.
If a few survive. they will soon wish they hadn’t the destruction
will be complete, save from cockroaches and perhaps
a few ulcerated dogs will die of starvation.
As for the rich, in their bunkers, will turn against one another
eat their children and finally open the door to an...

Grandma & Me
Grandma & Me
Treetops sway in the summer breeze
Grandma leads me up the fire tower stairs
To a place where Earth’s sorrows fade
And the cardinal is perched beside the bluejay
As they converse in foreign tongues
That my child’s heart feels but does not comprehend
Grandma smiles in silent reverie
While we ascend into cloud dreams
My little legs tire of the climb
And we settle our ascent into something like rest
But her smile is a conversation like the birds
Yet...

All my love, Max.
Sometimes I fear I am ruining you, that the way I am bringing you up isn't good enough; That I, am not good enough.
I am trying so hard, mi vida; I am raising you up from nothing but ash and gentle kisses,
And sometimes I just have to stop and marvel at the smart little girl you are growing into,
And remind myself that I am doing my best.
You may not have been born from me; your flesh, and blood is not mine; you did not arise from a rib bone, nor were you sculpted from clay and ash.
But you will always be mine; my little girl, and my little love.

Missing Persons Report
Two weeks ago, I reported my mother as missing after three days without returned texts. No word at all.
The not knowing is torture. My only certainty? Something bad happened.
In a recuring dream, I’m a child. I’m looking at a flower on a hillside and mother is behind me. Then I realize she’s not there and look up to see her disappearing over a nearby hill. I run to catch her, but she’s gone.
Last night I rose over my lover. In his eyes I saw mother pause at the edge of that hill and look back. She smiled.

How Was I Made?
My mother used to say that when she was a young girl, she held the wish for me like a flower inside her blouse, careful not to crush it.
When she met my father, she took out the flower and spread its petals for him.
He said it was beautiful.

Daughters of the Dusty Avenues
Daughters of the Dusty Avenues
An emaciated woman in a Mexican daze
Carries a baby in arms still strong
Enough to love this child she bears
Wife’s bodhisattva halo embraces the nativity
of a Mesoamerican Madonna holding her baby
in a circle of love.
Beatified in luminescence
Ascetic body lost to hunger
Golden daughter of creation whose son shines
Like the gold-leafed pages
In her book of divine love
His nursery rhyme eyes
Are a shanty-town of tears
