Memories
Memories,
Hang like window dressing
Etched by indelible ink
But I think they beguile
Being sometimes overgenerous
Prodigiously persuasive
Inextricably impressionistic
This window dressing is an improvisational work of art
For one can edit , improve, reassemble
At whim in the present day ,
One subconsciously ameliorates ,
Add in embellishments ,
Subtract spoliation
Ah , now my window dressing is a
Resplendent display ,
A Ornate memorial
A nostalgic fabrication
Accessories added here and there ...

Bar Mitzvah Rituals of the Maltese Brotherhood
Bar Mitzvah Rituals of the Maltese Brotherhood
“Hey there Sherri, the fly of my son’s undies has a stain that just won’t come out. Can you work your magic and remove it?”
“Come again, isn’t he eighteen? Shouldn’t he be past that stage?”
“Don’t I wish, eighteen is the peak of their hormones.”
“Is this the same kind you had me scrub until my fingers were red last time?”
“It is only the aloe cucumber lotion. He took his underwear off before achieving ‘O’.”
“How do you know it is just lotion? Surely he didn’t tell you.”

Because I Love my Daughter
Because I love my daughter ...
I owe her healing.
I owe her my life lessons.
But my story isn't her story. I won't let her see me criticize myself in the mirror. And I won't let her believe anyone else's poor treatment of her is ever her fault. I pray she'll never doubt her self worth in this world, and that she'll shine with compassion for others.
I'll give our relationship all I've got. I want her to tell me when I've done something wrong, when I've hurt her.
I want to be her safe place and her support.
I hope she'll use her voice.
And...

Rose-blood
Today you almost died.
The car wrapped around you
Like silver, jagged arms
Wanting what was mine
Since you were an infant.
That's all they told me.
You were lifted from the scene
By the indifferent, whirring hands of a chopper.
I searched frantically for you,
Calling hospital after hospital,
But to no avail.
And in those few hours
I assumed the worst.
But business was happening
Frantically around me.

idfc if it doesn't even make sense vol. one
can't even fuckin figure out if
today is still
today

or if it's
friday
or

but possibly still technically
friday

this shift
has my circadian rhythm
just
bamboozled
but maybe
i'm just
blame shifting
despite their calls of "sunrise"
during twilight hours
forever finding myself awaiting
this.. j-o-b
to ring-a-schwing-schwing ...

Crying
My baby's crying’s constant
With heavy screaming too
And soothing her is difficult
Since I'm still missing you
You say that this was for the best
If you could only see
I'm crying with my baby
While you're not here for me
Swinging face down in your arms
I miss that way you'd hold her
I wish that you’d have stayed with me
To watch as she grows older
But here we cry still without you
Both making quite a fuss
Since I can't soothe my baby
As I'm still mourning us
With heavy screaming too
And soothing her is difficult
Since I'm still missing you
You say that this was for the best
If you could only see
I'm crying with my baby
While you're not here for me

The Great Replacement Theory And Abortion
Yes, people pull the trigger - but guns are the instrument of death. Gun control is necessary, and delay means more death and horror. Eliot Spitzer
I had the idea to start my Sunday off with writing about a controversial element that has hindered our nation, and that is the debate of pro-life versus pro-choice. In more subtle terms, abortion, however an act of hate has consumed New York, yet once again.
I am stunned regarding the mental breeding of why someone within this day and age who still fosters a new millennium of creating a superior race, that ideology has held...

The ignorance of girlhood
I held you
there,
my darling
in between sparse flashes
of fractional moments
.
.
.
yet,
just
long
enough.
...sparking...
sweet dreams
and phantom whispers
The kind
that awaken secret mystery
fate highlighting,
a forever wanted known.
Revealing pain's ironic hurt of hope
It's then and there,
when fully comprehended true love
becomes a [split-second] understanding
that all other love before it,
never truly existed ...

They arrived early the relatives, unpacking suitcases
kissing, jubilation and breakfast, during when the latest gossip
of those not present was dissected.
Then they all went to the beach, leaving the house in chaos.
A buffet had been prepared, and the French brought wine and
goose liver; the French are sceptical of wine not made in Franch.
My god, how they talked like rapid gunfire, retreated to my study
and was not missed.

Parenting Monopoly
Oh, bother.
I forgot to write a poem today.
I was busy rushing around my house -
up and down the stairs,
in and out of rooms -
on a seemingly endless cycle
of repetitive chores.
Days like this feel just like
an unproductive game of Monopoly.
Instead of properties to collect,
there were socks to match,
towels to fold
and uniforms to find.
Being pay day,
I could finally settle some accounts,
pay some bills,
and buy some essentials.
However, there is going to be...

show you
I want to show you
the world is a wonderful place
full of beauty and magic and love
I want to show you
the most gorgeous sights
this world has to offer
so that you can feel the beauty
in every breath
I want to show you
every piece of art, every piece of history
every monument and every story
so that when you look at the world
you can see how our hearts beat in time
with the ground beneath our feet
I want to show you
that underneath every horror,
behind every terrifying thing
there is something wondrous ...
