August promise
August Promise
Every year I say, come August and I will go to Norway
but every you’re the flight ticket goes up, when mulling this over
it is suddenly, September wonder-full is the weather
of the sun, clouds and occasional rain.
The rain in Spain does not fall in my vale the lake is dry has for years
nevertheless, in September, there is a new spring
green grass and flowers more demure in colours
So, what, I hear you say, and I agree beauty does not need to be explosive
as we have had enough of car bombs and other colourful devices ...

It'd be so easy to leave but I can't
I awake to sunlight stabbing between my eyelids
Jabbing me out of a beautiful dream
In it I had runaway and was selfish for once
One selfish choice made up of a thousand decisions
But here I am awake, stomach in knots
My hands shaking as I turn over
Closing my eyes tightly, curling in on myself
My mind frantically searching for what I had
Just one, just one moment I had escaped
Yes, I've chosen this life and I know
I won't be walking away any time soon
There are cages you can't escape from
It's more complicated than picking a lock...

In the Sorrow of Your Arms
In the Sorrow of Your Arms
Plans are made
To be broken,
And no charms
Can break
That spell.
Our destiny
May be a token
Of those
Dreams
We know so well.
There
In the sorrow
Of your arms
I still can
Hear them tell,
Every thing
We thought
We knew
In the end
Unwound,
And at last
Oh so so fast
Became....
The echo
Of our sound.
Plans are made
To be broken,
And no charms
Can break
That spell.
Our destiny
May be a token
Of those
Dreams
We know so well.
There
In the sorrow
Of your arms
I still can
Hear them tell,

And at last
Oh so so fast

The echo

Canst thou say when darkness dies
When Heaven under shadow lies?
When I mirror my weaknesses in thee
And in thy heart, which suffers silently,
Whose chambers ache, and bleed on the throne
Of thy godlike tears that kiss my own,
As, by poison idols, our weeping was blessed—
Their empires falling, our sorrows caressed
O’er our assassins who threw their stones
Cursing the sin etched inside of our bones:
The love that could not speak out loud
As, at the gallows, we kiss a sundrenched cloud.
Canst thou say when...

He says I'm too intense
always all in
too many interests
spread too thin
overcommitted
overenthusiastic
overemotional
reckless.
but now...
every nerve jangling
pleasure/pain
no need for violence or power
for we are one beast
lost
in the give and receive
of pure
fucking
fun
so how do you like my intensity now?

Rainy Rainbow Boulevards
walk with me darling
down the boulevard
water colors drip(ping)
paints the streets devine
hazy shade of rainbows
dances as you stir you coffee
splashes of color to grey lives
emeralds twinkle in your smiling eyes
as we stroll down the lane
hand in hand...like an old song
playing on the radio,
our touch is so familiar to the dream
as we amble together
getting lost in puddles of paint
splashes of color...against the streets
so plain

water colors drip(ping)
paints the streets devine
hazy shade of rainbows
dances as you stir you coffee

Clear Blue Coffee Dream
Clear Blue Coffee Dream
“Hey you, quit staring at my derriere. In fact, go find a seat boo.”
“But I haven’t paid. Are you suggesting that I benefit from the largess of this coffee shop by getting a coffee and bagel on the house?”
“Oh darling John, I had no idea you hadn’t done your free market duty. Of course, let me ring you up. Thank you for being so honest though a voyeur.”
“You know my roving eyes are a compliment to your beauty. I don’t gaze at just any lass.”
“I bet you say that to all the Barista girls.”
“None other than you...

Magdalene and Jesus
Magdalene and Jesus
Magdalene is a dark-haired bride of the carpenter, Jesus, who gazes upon the wailing wall with wonder in her maiden heart.
A gray-bearded man hawks his wares for the worshippers. The smoke from his pipe smells sweet to her in her morning innocence. He sells Jewish Shekel coins from before copper bore Caesar’s image. Jesus is fascinated by them but she needs to taste tamarind and feel its juice drip down her chin. She strolls...

Schrödinger’s Cats
Schrödinger’s Cats
A freckled face girl serves me coffee. She breezes into my space like a prairie wind with a smile born of pasture sunrise. She is a southern flower child. Her modest skirt is a quiet beige. She flies like a songbird to my table. Her voice is a melody of love. With a pirouette and she ballet steps away.
I gaze upon her fluttering departure thirsty for the sparkle in her eyes like gemstones aglow in a milky sea as I sip my coffee in quiet reverence of her.
She says, “Hey do you remember that story I told you about my teenage years? How I...

Trust me
Tears run down from my eyes,
but you're too blind to realize.
I'm suffering with my new feeling
That I keep hearing the words of what you said
In my head over and over "trust me"
I'm trying to but my gut tells me not to
How can I trust you right now
when right now all I can think is of what I saw
When my heart broke seeing what looks like betrayal
How can u say its nothing when it looks like something
If you had nothing to hide you wouldn't hide your phone
Every night from me. I feel so sad and so hurt as
The words echo...
but you're too blind to realize.

Mountain Storm
Mountain Storm
Gentlemen oaks usher mountaineers
On Appalachian fern gold
Whose fronds are lush with dreams
That gather in the mossy cusp of nature’s beautician
Who makes a patchwork quilt of green
On rocky heads of ancient totems
We emerge onto a bald God’s summit
Below clouds grow restless
As troops with no war
Who throw electric javelins
While bloodletting water
Bled from the earth
Whose aerial arteries
Flow in mist and rain
My sight blurs in flood on glasses
That obscures all but light
“Oh my God!”...

Wedding of the Dead
Hell and sea rise from our bones,
In slumber beneath the stones.
What tides are these that ebb and flow
As blossoms from our corpses grow?
With this ring inside the darkness;
With this vow and with this kiss
With the words I never could say
Upon scars we cannot dream away—
I, in my unworthy blood, wed with thee
Our spirits joined eternally.
As the bells ring to Heaven,
My heart to thee is given.
As the tears and stars surround
My soul with thine is bound.
Never a happier hour could rise,
As I look now into...
In slumber beneath the stones.
What tides are these that ebb and flow
As blossoms from our corpses grow?
With this ring inside the darkness;
With this vow and with this kiss
With the words I never could say
Upon scars we cannot dream away—
I, in my unworthy blood, wed with thee
Our spirits joined eternally.
