My Own Tear Tracks
I have managed to step outside
Numb skin waking to a March morning
My eyes troubled, still
Pupils dilate and constrict at a heartbeat tempo
That changes time signatures
Measure by grueling measure
I don’t notice music
I’d been curled too long
Paralyzed and voiceless, from that accursed drink
Still wearing off, I think
There are potholes in my mind
Of moments felt, moments seen,
Some I heard still whispering
And I’m sure there’s more that I’m missing
But it is a feeling buried inside
Spiking my senses ...

A barn door in the first
Of Spring
Exposed my fresh timber
To the cold gusts of your speech
You promised light
When all you ever brought
Was damp and heavy
You told me that I should
Believe in things unseen,
Like god and your truth.
I warped my brain to
Disarray to be approved
Did that make you feel powerful?
Or do you feel as rotten
As what you always produced?

How refreshing would it be if we heard a politician say:
I don't believe in God and I don't believe in the protection and welfare of our citizens, their health & their safety
I plan on placing my friends in executive positions
I will pocket what funds I can get away with, but see that the rest is spent on my election
You will have no voice in my decisions any more then you ever had
You will have to accept my judgement, which you will have no choice
If I succeed in fooling the public, the public will have themselves to blame...
