Poems about Lions
#lion
Poems about lions and everything they symbolise. Poetry about lions, the king of the jungle and lionesses. The lion as a metaphor for courage, strength and power, along with lion poems about the life of this animal and apex predator.
When a lion loses his strength
When a lion loses his strength,
He looks up to the hilly lengths
To watch the sturdy sun as it dies,
From afar, he shakes his head and smiles;
Aware of the singing doves
And the days the reindeer loves.
The sinews of an old King
Fall short of ears at duty's wring,
To raid over a lot and reign Supreme.
Once hero of a man, now lives in a dream
Like a growing child leaning on the future,
With pages of history and collections of pictures
A memorable life, an old lion would say,
Marked with such prowess few...

The Toothless Lion - Game of Thrones
A toothless lion is a dead one,
Whilst you withered your own wealth,
You were saved by your son,
Who brought your house to health.
Almost killed by your own kind,
But saved by the kennelmaster,
You are not one of mankind,
Yet you led yourself to disaster.
So Tytos Lannister,
Why did you stand and watch the clock,
You hid behind the bannister,
At your home of Casterly Rock.
You were indeed a lion, yes,
But teethed like a cub,
Stepped down leaving a mess,
To your own young lion...

Sae Lion
Sea-Lion
I saw a seal in Durban big and sleek and its smile
Was wondrous, I think it had green eyes, right,
But, I’m not a very god swimmer and is sceptical
Of water, mermaids and swimming pools.
By chance, I saw a sleek woman cleaning a pool
And it was morning, she had green or blue or
Perhaps brown eyes of the type lionesses have
When a lion, has caught a prey it has to give it
Up when hyenas come around.
Conquests are a hyena’s fare but it lacks delight
And the ability to laugh. The seal from Durban
I remember so well, had a hearty...

Velvet Lion
A burning Desire roars deep
within, an existing scarlet desire that
i will not feed, drip drop
drip
but always she exists
golden-maned lion, velvet-pawed lion
I know your hunger gnaws, and
I hear your hunger gnaws, no- I
feel your hunger gnaws
dispatched to my direction
I think
You think that I cannot hear you
I think
you think that I do fear you
But do you know
to whom you speak? These weathered hands
have gripped Tragedy
by its neck and dropped it on its head
You tug at my...

Red Lion’s Ire
- Red Lion’s Ire -
When the rains came down over gray rocks,
And the knights in their armor bright arrayed…
Could not withstand, either steel or dragon fire:
And withered on their belts were maiden locks.
It was then that fear, upon bold hearts preyed,
For they dared to cross the Red Lion’s hot ire.
The Lion had lain with the Dragon, long before…
And when the knights of their rivals came to bear,
The ravens feasted well, upon bones of the slain!
But the Red Lion and the Dragon wanted more,
So countless kingdoms, their banners did share.
But...
