New Place, New Beginning
It was hard leaving one’s hometown,
But someone has to put one foot in
Front of the other as they leave and
Spread their roots in a new town.
Where she and everyone has been
Does not compare to the hand
Everyone places over their heart
As there is a new chapter and a new
Beginning from the ashes that blew
Them to the place where they are
Supposed to be and bright like a star.
But someone has to put one foot in
Front of the other as they leave and
Spread their roots in a new town.
Where she and everyone has been
Does not compare to the hand
Everyone places over their heart
As there is a new chapter and a new
Beginning from the ashes that blew
Them to the place where they are
Supposed to be and bright like a star.

An Odyssey
An Odyssey
A fiery necklace of jade stretches down her throat during their goodbye kiss. When he boards the gangplank the beads sink into her navel where they ignite. She says, “If you come back maimed I will take care of you. If what you saw haunts you, I’ll exorcise your demons with my touch. If you return to me as a corpse I will keep fresh roses on your grave. But please give Agamemnon this note I wrote for you that you are married to a woman who will surely perish of heartbreak if you come home in a casket.”
“He would call me a coward.”
“Be my lovely coward. Go...

1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi
Rising from the dust of chalk,
1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi,
and 1 frigging bag of Cheetos.
Who gives a rhinoceros?
Ask the fool,
who Thomas Jefferson was?
He can't recite the Pledge of Allegiance
but he knows how many chicken wings
are in a bushel, that Peter Piper picked.
With his one tooth, he looks like Ollie Dragon
and his bottle of Jack Daniels is dry.
Jesus lives in Mexico and Rooster Cogburn is the guy.
1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi,
and 1 frigging bag of Cheetos.
That's all folks! ...

The Meaning of Poetry to Me
As the words flow across the pages
Something within my soul lifts and life
Becomes easier to bear. The stages
Of love, pain, happiness and the knife
In my heart become whole again.
The words that come down like rain
Lifts someone’s spirit and makes them
Realize they are not so alone in how they
Feel. Just like a flower stem, poetry holds
Onto me tight and waits for me to bloom
In every beautiful moment. It stays
With me during those sleepless nights.
It sparkle with specks of golds.
It dances with me when the lights
Go...

Parenting Monopoly
Oh, bother.
I forgot to write a poem today.
I was busy rushing around my house -
up and down the stairs,
in and out of rooms -
on a seemingly endless cycle
of repetitive chores.
Days like this feel just like
an unproductive game of Monopoly.
Instead of properties to collect,
there were socks to match,
towels to fold
and uniforms to find.
Being pay day,
I could finally settle some accounts,
pay some bills,
and buy some essentials.
However, there is going to be...

My Flat (x2 Senryu Acrostic)
Mess, like blank paper
Youth lost words sculptured
Fornicating verse
Language on carpet
Acrostic mayhem poem
Trickling senryu floats

Extracted
I was phoned today
And told
That my application
For an extractor fan
Was to be put on hold
The caller was very apologetic
I reassured him
That i realised
That it would of been
An unlikely thing
As i was three floors up
Where even bees did not sting
And that much scaffolding
Would of been needed
A cost to much
To be conceded
He sounded pleased
And surprised
At my positive response
And that my understanding of the reality
Was there to Ensconce
I also said
Not to worry

The Land Wants Us Back Too
One day I'll sit by the water and let the moss grow on me
And let the earth critters creep and crawl all over me and
I will be home
And I will let the mushrooms spread and grow from within me
And I will watch the clouds and rain and water pass by
And I will finally sit and be still
I will be home
I will slowly sink back into the soil,
Healing all life around me
Returning to mother
I will be home
And flowers will grow from my eyes,
And people hiking past will look and smile and admire them
I will be the trees and the soil and the...

main street
I came from far
away and brought
the eddings of me
and the odd tin sound.
just because the sculpture
was pure, it was you and me
and Iowa, grassland wind.
laid down, called and godless;
i love nothing more
pure then a single rose by eggs;
prove it.
cracked but clean but crooked;
you smile and I am 12 again before
my perfect suburban revolt;
i am metallic, and homely and love
is fair again.

Down the unpaved path~
Years went by while I cascaded through the unknown.
Faking it to make it or to just feel that part of society that was "supposed to be".
Numb yet smiling, steps were taken daily and years went by. The anger faded into regret and the love faded into vacant dreams.
Just then, counting down the days of existence with clouded eyes, heart and soul the sun shined through. Moving the grey aside and showing me a light within that dropped me to my knees.
By giving away my power so many times I simply forgot who I was...who "I am".
