The Horses
guided by sounds
i enter a state of
deep relaxation
the song swells
takes me over
makes me see
healing horses
galloping & free
envision it's me
after the session
talking over tea
i told her about
what it did to me
visions that came
she saw them too
galloping horses
it made us smile
i'm so grateful for
the beauty of our
bond, and how we
connect energetically
i enter a state of

the song swells
takes me over
makes me see

It was the year I stayed in bed
never changed my red toothbrush
wished for decay
looked outside
at neighbours mowing grass
in straight show home tracks
while my train de-railed
carriages all on fire
conductors screaming
it was the year I stayed in bed
pulled the duvet over my head because
I was told a story once how the boogey man
would only attack what he could visibly touch
and I soon learned that was a fucking lie
so I covered my dead in a quilted shroud
let my epitaph read here lies this girl
earthed in guilt and shame, ...

Drum Beats
while the energy
transmission is
still in process
african beats
fill my house
grounding me
connect me to
my innate roots
until they deeply
vibrate inside me
tingling feelings
start at my feet
my hands until
they fill my body
with sensations
coming in waves
i let go of myself
let the beats take
me over deep into
the wind and trees
the forest the leaves
energy of the elements

Body Work
the scent of sage
leaves enchant
my room while
shamanic beats
& sound bowls
calm my body
feels like i'm in
a tibetan temple
She works her
magic energy
transmissions
chakras open
vibrations flow
crown to pelvis
deeply feels like
i'm coming home ...

On seeking wholeness in a hammock
the guilt that gnaws
the lessons learned
old wounds opened
new scars earned
grief gently bleaches
as sun peeks ‘round trees
loss ripens to gratitude
through tender breeze
the bygones are past
so receive what is real
not all things can last
but all can heal
.

Casting Shadows
Sometimes it feels like you're still with me...
With us...
Casting a long and imposing shadow
upon the ground before us
the only time in which we can still
be together as a family...
The touch of your warm embrace
lingers like a distant memory
while here with you in this field
of stone and forgotten names
Projecting your silhouette in the
waning light of this hallow place
feels almost crippling on my soul
forever judging, forever watching
I'm left to ponder my own thoughts
am I doing as...
With us...
Casting a long and imposing shadow
upon the ground before us
the only time in which we can still
be together as a family...
The touch of your warm embrace

Eye of the Needle
It could be found
Nowhere else,
What he was looking for.
The night before,
A candle stick,
Dripped down and over
a remnant of old ink,
Tucked away behind
comprehension.
Something shook
and scattered within his spirit,
A mouse scared and scampering,
scrapes of tiny nails
Against the harsh odds of varnish.
It had all seen the occasional
Better day.
Better years had yet to find their place,
yet cast your cares upon tomorrow
Remained stitched to a sampler
on his pillow. ...

About Last Year
Patience, a lot of patience,
That's what it takes to keep going.
At many years of age
we just want health and a lot of patience.
We are not attracted to indolence!
We are not afraid of impotence!
But, oh my God, how much we miss
the patience to have with impertinence
and inexperience and malevolence...
We try not to give up on the film
at the end of the first sequence.
And hear the same poorly told stories
out of sheer indulgence.
We then allowed ourselves to sit in the garden
and count the petals...
That's what it takes to keep going.

Porcelain
How much I love
To dance around
The yeasty smelling kitchen
Bandana in hair
Flour on my cheeks
Smile lines
My singing imprinted in the dough
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Flowing around my body
Into my ears
Out my mouth
Crisp moss smells
And rose
Musk
From the candle flickering
I am so
Peaceful
To dance around
The yeasty smelling kitchen
Bandana in hair
Flour on my cheeks
Smile lines
My singing imprinted in the dough
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Flowing around my body
Into my ears
Out my mouth
Crisp moss smells

Tactual Healing
All my words of disappointment
in varying degrees of sarcasm,
anger, and occasional compassion
have been allowed to slip
in and out of my grey matter
but never end up on paper
I've preferred to spend my time
measuring, cutting, and constructing things
while poetry lives fast and dies young
in the confines of my head
I don't know if that's some sort of irony
but it certainly feels like it is
in varying degrees of sarcasm,
anger, and occasional compassion
have been allowed to slip
in and out of my grey matter
but never end up on paper
I've preferred to spend my time
measuring, cutting, and constructing things
while poetry lives fast and dies young
in the confines of my head
I don't know if that's some sort of irony
but it certainly feels like it is
