Humble Me
I don’t lack ego in life
I’m stop short of conceited
In quest after Miss Poetry
in the World the same not repeated
Recluse adolescent shy cub
raised best as could by young mother
Never taught to be king
so chose a player thru struggle
Reluctant confidence self assured
Ripley believing or not
I made myself into the vintage Man I raised
chiseled in slow mastery thought
No virtuous grandeur where I stood
pebbles can’t pass before shame
Maybe was meek when I was formed
now word gets born from my name ...

This empty revel
i.
Come walk with me. No use wandering alone on this
absent curve with this melancholy
in hand—this stain on your palms.
You try not to let it pester— though it slinks up your sleeve. You mustn’t touch it
It’s prickly; this blackened scab that sullies your ivory; the wound— a trinket of wry
with little relent.
ii.
For all this sorrow forbids you to bathe in the malt of another man’s brew. A potence found only in the ones who have forgiven ...

Lost Boy
Among the shadows where the silence breathes,
A lost boy walks, torn like autumn leaves
With haunted eyes, echoes of pain
Looking for shelter down the pouring rain
Once a dreamer in a world so vile,
Now, a wanderer with nowhere to hide
He's endured the harm of many hearts unkind,
Yet his spirit wishes for a chance to rise
Through nights of darkness, inhaling your fear,
Crystal ghosts haunt you; I feel you near
Each scar a story, each tear a song,
In a world that feels so painfully wrong
Stolen...

If only I could soar - a lovely coop with Shilohverse
Hoi hoi
Hope this finds you well?
This is a lovely coop, if I may say so.
https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14866877
Shilohverse wrote the poem/lyrics and posted them on the 24th of August 2024.
I asked for her permission to take the poem with me on a 7 week trek in our tent, so I could get ideas for a song. And I got that permission. Needless to say I was very glad.
A couple of days after our return, I uploaded the draft to Shilohverse, and shortly after that this version. ...

Evensong at Big Bear Lake
Beneath a sky that bleeds vermilion hues,
A canvas spread with strokes of crimson blues,
The sun descends behind the mountain’s crest,
A symbol of the turmoil laid to rest.
The waters mirror this fiery retreat,
Holding the day’s last gold in bittersweet,
While shadows of our pasts, like sentinels stand,
Guarding the peace newfound on tranquil land.
From depths, the gentle lapping sounds confess
To struggles faced and quiet victories bless,
Echoing whispers that the breeze imparts,
Carrying tales of reborn, mended hearts.

Necessary Parting
October 4, 2024
Yesterday was harder than I thought it would be. Handing Ava over to David and his wife felt like I was tearing a piece of my heart out and watching it walk away. For five months, she's been my constant companion, my little girl who needed me for everything — especially the comfort and nourishment of breastfeeding. It's been an intimate bond, one that I never thought I'd be able to break, even temporarily.
But after the abortion, everything feels different. The decision to go out of state for the procedure wasn't easy, but it was necessary. I keep telling...

In Between
I stand in the quiet space
Between feeling and knowing,
Between what I can't quite name
And the truth I hold deep within.
I am certain of me…….
Of the strength that carries me forward,
Of the soul that always finds a way
To rebuild, to create, to heal.
But still, there’s a question that lingers,
A weight that rests upon my chest,
Not of who I am, but of what this is.
Uncertain, and yet… I feel….
I don’t have the answers yet,
I will step back to find my breath.
In the quiet of my work, I will know
In time, the pieces...

Reflections in Shattered Glass
I saw you through a prism, bright,
A figure of warmth, a guiding light,
Each laugh a melody, each word a thread,
In your embrace, I felt hopes widespread.
Yet as the seasons turned their page,
The colors dulled, revealing a stage,
Where smiles masked questions, and silence grew wide,
In moments of closeness, I felt pushed aside.
I let you in, hoping to mend,
A mother wound with a heart to lend,
But as I opened, you turned away,
Leaving me fragile, lost in dismay.
It’s not the first time this heart...

Jack Tha Lad In Jack Land
Gino went and played pool every Friday night.
With his friend Stevie G, they'd go and have some pints.
The stress from his Mrs at home was wearing on his brain,
So he always wanted to cut it loose, so he didn't go insane!
One day, when he was off his bonce, he drank shots at the bar.
He pulled this little, fine ting, but he never took it far.
He would meet her every other day, and Emma was her name.
Till Poppy spotted them out one day and chased her down the lane.
Gino and Emma used to hook up, but only...

surgery day snapshot
Nerves make me a weirdo
I don't know whether to laugh
or cry
so instead I space out so hard
the receptionist has to call my name twice
In pre op I can't decide what to do
so I daydream, listen to music
put on an erotic cowboy audiobook
and people watch
pretending not to think about
other people's sex lives
I want to be anywhere but here
never mind that I've been waiting
8 months for this surgery
If drown my thoughts in erotica
and inappropriate thoughts about

Thirteen
13.
The body will wait,
weighted and forlorn,
drunk on stone, air on lung,
for some kind of lightning,
or door to evade again
those tethers of hinge and rust,
I could nuzzle
holly and teasel more
than human flesh, never been
able to work it all out
but your hands
no longer fit my hands,
my hands made
of green and wild
and those nooks
we laid claim to
between book pages,
in a rush to make
heroes of ourselves,
were never enough.
I'd take a boat,
I'd take a shed,
somewhere to...

simple solutions
it cut me to the bone
hearing second hand
how you under handedly
conquered the slit of my friend
my heart bled from the deep thrusts
the ache poured out
the salt of my tears
stinging confirmed doubt
which brings us to your present predicament
chained spread eagle while my seriousness you scoff
it’s not lust or for your erotic amusement
I’ve just simply decided to cut-you-off
hearing second hand
how you under handedly
conquered the slit of my friend
my heart bled from the deep thrusts

the salt of my tears
