March Ides-Eve: You Beside Me
I showed you how beautiful our days could be.
I proved how serious I am
about not being too serious
about anything that doesn't matter.
When I bought tortoiseshell, octagonal
gas station sunglasses
for seven bucks,
and snacks for our newest adventure,
you were right by my side -
the acid was starting to kick in,
and my favorite day ever was soon to begin.
We walked all over the back of the Beast,
sometimes hiking on just to our breathing -
sometimes laughing till the point of weeping,

Irrelevant
You know, I think I figured out why I
Hate you so much: you make me feel
Irrelevant.
I had a feeling, you know.
I was ok when summer ended,
But by Thanksgiving break, you liked
Them more than you would ever like me.
I know it wasn’t intended to hurt me, (or maybe it was),
But do you remember that Snapchat from November?
Every other answer had a reason on why you picked the
Other option, but mine. You chose Emily over me.
That’s when I knew. At the time I was ok with it.

Religious Intolerance, and An Angel Named Lena
The tension was building up at home, this time with Brian, a heavy smoker who'd begun going to parties at weekends and getting drunk. He was sixteen and studying for his A'levels at the grammar school. Like Robin and I, he longed for a normal childhood. He had a number of friends in the neighbourhood, all of whom had gone to the local comprehensive. Whilst he showed exceptional talent and had no objection to studying hard at the grammar school, he disliked having to cycle to the Rabbi's house several evenings a week to study the sacred Hebrew books. For him, the memories of summer holidays...

Light in the darkness
I am your friend
A soul for your soul.
A place for your life.
Home.
Know this."
I wanted so badly to message her
but she deserves better
than other peoples
drunken
insecurities
at 2am
I always felt
like a woman of fire
and that made loving hard
to say the least
but this
this is a poem
and I am a writer
and she makes me want
to scream
so profoundly
and loudly
that it doesn't just scar with emotion
but it lifts me off my feet ...

Medusa And Me
The first time that I met Medusa was at a summer time cookout. I had a friend at the time that wasn’t just a coworker, but he lived within ten minutes of my house. I don’t usually hit up the backyard parties, there’s usually far to many freeloaders. You know the type people that I mean, the type that arrive uninvited baring nothing. They eat and drink nonstop, they get full, they get high, and then they try to take over your home. I personally try to avoid what is inevitable at these events. But my coworker, Greg, is on the up and up. There’s no one walking up onto his property without being...

Familiar Spirit

Do you ever sit in a coffee shop just waiting?
Waiting for that special someone to come along?
I always give people the benefit of the doubt.
Always giving that special one authoritarian control.
I’m not so sure you want to make the time to be in my life anymore.
You sure came on strong, referring to me as your friend even. Now I’m the enemy.
But I do have needs. I’m sure we all do. Even you.
You were indeed needy. I could tell.

Chance reflections off a distant sea
Your heart
'tis solid made
honest as an arrow's truth
i thought i heard
a smallish beckon of forevermore
like the very soil
where seeds find ends
in bones
and soon espied,
were your planted stones
loyal, are hefty winds
that uplift— securing
a sculpted tongue
where the love,
Oh my darling
where our love,
whispers sweetened prose
in dire shared alliance
spilling, perfectly ...

The Wrecking Of The Birkenhead
The year is 1852 and in the south of Ireland a troop ship in the service of the Empire of Great Britain is making ready to set sail. The innovative ship had earlier set out from the Royal Navy base at Portsmouth, England, with army troops on board and is visiting Ireland to pick up a number of additional soldiers. She is one of the new iron hulled vessels with three tall masts on which to drape the huge cotton canvas sails that harvest and harness the winds sent to blow mercilessly out on the seven seas. But as dawn breaks on this cold early January morning, she steadily eases her way out of...

The past has passed… and there’s nothing you can do to undo what’s been done !
I couldn’t discern whether it was me or his addictive personality that prevented us from flying as it weighed us down, even whilst trying to make him see the light, he was polarised and unable to shift his burdens, on a higher plane.
You can’t build a healthy bond with someone who’s there, but not quite here. Especially, if you’re numb on the inside because you’re one of the living dead. I used to say that to him and he’d look at me intently, then pull me into him to kiss me.
Just to shut me up as those little truth bombs would set us both off. All those blurred...

The Tiring Journey
There was a time that I was hanging from the edge of a very high cliff. I'm not exactly sure how I ended up there. I think it may have been a combination of events that led me to the cliff, yet it seemed so sudden. In a blink of an eye, I was not only on top of this cliff ledge, but somehow managed to fall too near to the edge and slipped down the side. It was almost as though I had been pushed. Though I could not say for sure what had happened.
I was slipping and my fingers and arms were becoming tired of holding on. I couldn't get back up, no matter how much I tried. It seemed...
