Letter To America
Dear America and your illusion of greatness. Your wealth and prosperity and honor and democracy. Has not been built upon these principals and ideals, that you wish others to believe that this country was built upon.
It was built upon a theft of a nation, the blood and sweat of a nation and human degradation. Not on the moral grounds of humanity, yet it was built on the dehumanization of the people you have violently snatched it from.

Sharks
Sharks
They can smell your vulnerable from very far away, they encircle you so lovingly, they know exactly what to say
Offering care and comfort, you're welcomed in with open arms, blinding you with charisma, turning on their charms
Waiting for you to drop your guard, then they move in for the kill, taking what they want from you, until they've had their fill
Feeding off your loneliness, searching for your broken heart, making sure you never heal, whilst they play their part
The part of the caring friend, the one who'd never make...

Pernicious, false rhetoric.
Designed to enrage.
Imaginary conspiracies.
Charlatans,
posing as investigative reporters.
Innuendo replacing facts.
Purveyors of outrage,
spinning
layers of deception,
misinformation,
disinformation and
outright lies,
like straw,
into ratings gold
Insulated from accountability (until recently)

There is an emptiness here
without you
an emptiness that started
the day you said
Let me make one thing perfectly clear...
And then you stole
a part of me I've never
been able to replace
The irony of the fact
that you left me for a stripper
we were never really together Eve
wasn't lost on my me
I don't know the exact moment
we weren't something
though we never put a label on it
And late at night
when I've had too much to drink ...
without you
