Reborn
The womb of morning contracted,
birthing fragile but familiar light.
Fluorescent thoughts of possibility
conquer abysmal frights of night.
The birds converse
about dawn's multiple destinies.
Choices versus inevitabilities.
Behold the starlings cry,
full of harsh trills but gentle rattle.
A rapid alternation of chords
I lay down my mental swords,
as the sun is poured.
Onto another daily battle.
birthing fragile but familiar light.
Fluorescent thoughts of possibility
conquer abysmal frights of night.
The birds converse
about dawn's multiple destinies.
Choices versus inevitabilities.
Behold the starlings cry,
full of harsh trills but gentle rattle.
A rapid alternation of chords
I lay down my mental swords,
as the sun is poured.
Onto another daily battle.

THROW THOSE CURTAINS WIDE
Throw those curtains wide,
let daylight inside,
lighten all the room,
chase away night gloom.
Let it shine on you,
be night-clothed or nue,
in its warmth bathe in
as it touches skin.
Feel the face of God
look upon your bod,
your soul deep into;
He created you.
Said, "Let there be light!":
then world came in sight.
On its face sprung life,
good without sin's strife.
Let that light of day
inspire you on way
lighting up your path
post-breakfast and...

gentle day
finessing the day she opens to me with a smile
I caress my thoughts knowing sadness is among them
what a beautiful feeling...sorrow
it reminds me of my humanity
and makes happiness shine even more brightly
wow, I feel good today
the sun is glowing, the sky blue and the flowers free
if I can count on nothing else
I can believe in nature
truth is found in her
I seduce the day making love to the air
sending my energy out
I have enough happiness to share
encourage each other
listen to the people around you ...

As full and as bright as her bumper crops,
she rose, like suitors by an arbor rung,
and higher than notes by falsetto sung...
in right ascension... right past the treetops
to sail through her meridian space
over the stratojet and shooting star
or any aviation objet d'art
at a sonic or supersonic pace.
Only wind chimes and crickets orchestrate
to score her silent orbit far above
our fair medium of earshot love
where daybreak birdsong is the morning fate
of the Harvest moon and all of her beams... ...

Flight
**** flight *****
here comes the time again
for ethereal flowers to fly
for the poet to watch and sigh,
to only behold without asking why?
here's a dandelion about to fade away
the music dissolving into atmosphere
with the slightest touch of the breeze
and your heart takes flight overseas
carried aloft, into heaven's relief
stripped from any mundane grief
entranced the feel, a delightful sheer
and quietly the dark leaves the night
a bright tide, then illuminates the light ...

Frozen in my cocoon
Late days sky,
Cloudy, and peering through the leaves
Winds, strong, but welcome from the Arizona heat
Wind through the Palo Verdes makes a wall of sounds
Crickets singing,
joining in harmonic convergence in my Desert, that is silently loud
Loneliness pulled from the air, a forever sound never heard
The three snowflakes and a winter leave,
They are wonderful, forming out of nowhere
Cool night blowing,
Sounds of Tucsonan stirrings
Coyote howls, Javelina grunting, picking up olives and fruits
a bat flies low, the sound of wings...

the robin
we had beer for breakfast
since the electric was off and we couldn’t boil the kettle
and there
was a robin in the garden
we sat drinking,
and dear, she says, take it slowly
let it settle

The Forms of Flux
Im not who I was
This moment is like a closing portal -
bequeathing a sight of the self
that must be seized in the moment
as the moment transforms
and the self transforms
and everything transforms
Into the forms
of
flux.

Boreal Flower
the flower screaming
in the creases of the night
the afternoon screaming
your sunsets
its dawns and the
long night
leans out the window
and watch the procession pass
the night is still in the churchyard
loaded with wounds
the night falls from the eyes
of insomniacs and falls asleep
in the bed of all rivers
the night peers
the unfathomability.

I'm Civilized Now
Its hard to scrabble together words
Its like trying to capture feelings
When dry fitting stones
I remember cold mornings
Long draws on cigarettes
Last nights beer still clouding my mind
Ain't much different now
Just a helluva lot hotter
And I don't smoke
Don't drink boilermakers either
Let alone straight whiskey or beer
But I'm still pissed
And its still cloudy
I shoulda bought a Harley and rode west years ago
Been years since I rode ...

Poster in a Seaside Bank
Happy to serve you
in Clacton-on-Sea, it said.
Or something like it, I suppose,
the tawdry market-speak
of councils that convene
to seem spontaneous,
to carry on the half-hearted facade
that anyone would tarry here.
The poster faced the glassed-in booths
in which the bank clerks passed their days
assisting pensioners, addicts,
and silly sods like me
who must be forced
to love technology.
Perhaps the poster forced my hand
towards the apps, ISAs, and other means
of pushing on. ...
