Of The Bowels of the Earth
Beneath the stones where silence keeps
In ancient vaults where daylight sleeps
There stirs a breath, a whispered wail
A shiver cold, a visage pale
The earth doth groan in muffled sighs
As something wakes with hollow eyes
A creeping dread, a blackened tide
That stirs the bones of those who died
It slithers slow through cracks unseen
A shadow cast on shadow's sheen
The touch of night, the cold embrace
Of spectres lost to time and space

A Steed From Nowhere
The dim yellow light in the kitchen flickers with an erratic and unearthly dance, casting elongated shadows that writhe and twist with unnatural animation. The fire's uncertain glow only deepens the oppressive atmosphere, magnifying the dark, malignant presence that lingers just beyond the threshold of perception. The cigarette smolders in the ashtray, its tendrils of smoke curling upwards as if bearing the heavy weight of the detective’s dread and despair.
The kitchen, once a refuge of warmth and familiarity, now exudes an air of suffocating malevolence. The peeling floral wallpaper,...

The Schoolboys and the Rastafarian Men (With original Patois quotations)
Two schoolboys, Dan and Josh, attended the Independent City All Age School in St. Catherine. In the evenings, they used to walk through a cane field near the school when they were going home. Many tall coconut trees bordered the cane field. Dan and Josh would cut sugar cane and pick coconuts to eat. In addition to that, they would carry some sugar cane and coconuts home.
The boys had a big problem. They had to pass a construction site on the way home, and some men who worked there would beg them sugar cane and coconuts. If the boys refused to give the men what they asked...

Book review: A Marvellous Light, by Freya Marske
Okay, so I don't normally do book reviews, actually I don't do them at all. I just sometimes think about what I would say if someone asked about what I'm reading. No one ever asks.
This book almost demands a review, or something. I have read it three times in the last four days, which I never do.
With most books I enjoy, I read it, savour it, analyze it, and then stick it on a shelf for the next time I'm in the mood for it. I think I can name ever book I have read and reread, and held onto for the precious story it is. This is one of those books, only moreso.

Grow Up !
I DON'T SEE you
i am sure life is always fair
to give happiness or despair
bear in mind as long as you live
that you only get what you give
I have learned to be square
and fair any time any where
if i cheat then i'll surely pay
for my inequity the hard way
and so, i accept the outcome
what betides me is the logic sum
so it is even wisely unfair
when you still even complain
the irony, when the viper bites...

Cocooned In Silk
One wild and wintry winter
He ventured to the wood
Guided only by the eerie moonlight
As he reached the spot, where a monster once stood
He called out "Oh monster!"
"Come to me forthwith"
"I wish to make a deal with you"
"That one day you may'st forgive"
He waited upon a mossy bank
Surrounded by frozen leaves
And within a moment of minutes
A loud crunching could be perceived
As he beckoned it even closer
He began to perceive its size
As wide as a felled oak tree ...

The Fountain of Death
- The Fountain of Death -
Diego Cruz was awakened in the middle of the pitch-black of those dark hours past midnight, and as he did awaken... he felt a sense of dread creeping upon him. Instinctively, he reached for the long sword that lay nearby, on the large sack full of supplies that the native bearers had brought and laid in his tent with much care. He nearly tripped on the animal skins that covered the ground, but caught himself so as to not fall. It had been raining most of the previous day, and camp had been set up to wait out the rain... but this had halted the expedition...

Cloak n Dagger
Never seen a cloak
Quite like this before
Bright red with white pearls
Constantly flashing
Quite dashing I'd say
Dashing and sinister
It was her calm before the storm
Before she administers her pain
Through her blood stained dagger
That made the mightiest of men stagger
And tragically fall
As they become magically enthralled
With her beautiful cloak
Beguiling with witty jokes
A saccharine voice ...

Syl (with original Patois quotations)
Chapter 1
Family and Friends
A short slim man built a shanty in a squatter settlement near the fishing village in Greenwich Farm. He lived there with his girlfriend and his two little daughters. His name was Sylvester, and everybody called him Syl for short. He also had an illegitimate son who lived with his mother in the country. Syl was a street vendor. He had an old wooden stall on a sidewalk downtown, and he sold a variety of items.
Fishing was Syl’s main hobby. He had two close friend Ronny and Arnold who used to go fishing with him. Ronny and...
