The Girl Who Ran
Small hands, big eyes,
A little Black girl in a world too heavy for her bones.
A world that didn’t feel like hers,
A body that didn’t feel like home.
She moved through life like a shadow,
Silent, unseen,
Scared of the darkness that crept into her room at night,
That smelled like liquor and sweat and evil.
She had no words for what happened to her,
No voice to scream,
Only silence,
Only the sound of her breath disappearing into nothing.
Her mother was always working,
Always gone,
And when she was home,
Her hands were...

She Rose in Power
I swear I died one day.
Not in a grave, not in the flesh,
But something in me left.
Like my spirit packed its bags and said,
"I can't live here no more."
Three years before the world shut down,
I was already a ghost in my own life,
Trapped in a body that ain’t feel like mine.
Seventeen years deep with love that outgrew me.
Since 11th grade, I called it home—
But home ain’t supposed to suffocate you.
One morning, I woke up,
And the love that held me together?
It felt like chains.
So I let it go. Had to.

She was seven.
A little Black girl in a world too heavy for her small frame,
Too sharp for her soft hands,
Too cruel for a heart that only wanted love.
She didn’t belong...at least, that’s what it felt like.

Stage Fright
This has been a long Sunday it started off with two toasts with cheese and the glucose rose to stratospheric, insulin is needed where the heck
Is the bloody needle, mlg if you please followed by a thundering heart and unwanted anxiety, I have tried to overcome for over 60 years
In my younger days, I tried to overcome my nerves by drinking whisky as a calmer which made me annoyed with anxiety-riddled myself
My wish was and still is to be a brave person, who is able to express himself with confidence But, no deal baby, I ended up alone in a room

Dope You Know?
Here I am no surprise, checked into rehab again
fucked around and thought the drugs were my one and only friend.
Yet they left me so empty and sicker as can be
clouded my judgement, made it impossible to see.
That this addiction wants me till I'm blue and dead
it will NEVER let me go, just like they always said.
Bag after bag I shoot, hit after hit after hit
to the point where I'm nodding like a zombie and can't stop smoking this fuckin shit.
Numbing the pain and all the feelings I hate

Endless Bus Stop
In a risk not worth taking
In gear one, I ignited and took the road with some folks
Road too poor with huge bumps
In gear two, I drove into many corners
Too fast over speeding making jumps
Riding unsteadily changing gears non stop
Among the people riding along with me in a Toyota bus who took some turns on the steering wheel
