Arctic Grey
What is there left to say
with so many things to see
wrapped up in this arctic grey
a deeper gift for free
About the ambiguity of life
to always make its point
this keen acuity of strife
a sacred oil to then anoint
All deeds done and undone
say so much about me
all beneath the midnight sun
where I may let it all be
Leaving sorrow in the past
where it truly belongs
to make memories that last
lyrics for far happier songs
While I continue on pack ice
follow along in their flow
never...

Clouds
All puffy and white
always such a delight
while they ride the horizon
flat on the bottom
jagged on top
not to be forgotten
so much strewn cotton
pulled by nimble fingers
always such a delight
while they ride the horizon
flat on the bottom
jagged on top
not to be forgotten
so much strewn cotton
pulled by nimble fingers

Clouds
They keep their own
puffy white secrets
to themselves
while they drift so high
in a cryptic sky
each one its own clue
a puzzle piece to fit
a mystery to solve
always leaving me here
deciphering
puffy white secrets
to themselves
while they drift so high
in a cryptic sky
each one its own clue
a puzzle piece to fit
a mystery to solve
always leaving me here

Ambiguous Clouds
I like to hide from the loud crowds
blend in amongst ambiguous clouds
hiding safe within their grey
until I have a chance to have my say
As teardrops race down this pane
a most poor substitute for rain
so bourgeois and cliche
if I really must then say
So, where to find inspiration
in this daily celebration
that is my lonely life
dull as a stray butter knife
No elephants on parade
while I lay back in the shade
from a most discerning sun
plucking petals one by one
For a life lived in...

hiding safe within their grey
until I have a chance to have my say
As teardrops race down this pane
a most poor substitute for rain

Loom
Concrete grey clouds
are like anxious crowds
pushing ever down
pushing always in
From all around
not making a sound
in their cumulus way
distressing while pressing
Leaving little room
as again they do loom
are like anxious crowds
pushing ever down
pushing always in
From all around
not making a sound
in their cumulus way
distressing while pressing
Leaving little room
as again they do loom

The Honest Clouds
Inspired by the poem “The Widening Road” by Ada Limon
They stay on high passing by
passing above
witnessing it all
with a cumulus sincerity
Puffy, white and light
they so affect my day
conspiring to inspire
with no threat of rain
Just a message of hope
incandescent as the sun
They stay on high passing by
passing above
witnessing it all
with a cumulus sincerity
Puffy, white and light
they so affect my day
conspiring to inspire
with no threat of rain
Just a message of hope
incandescent as the sun

Cumulus
The clouds have their say
covering up the day
with their wispy strands
their gossamer hands
Leaving me to wonder
as I now fear thunder
for what is there to gain
by a more chilling rain
Crossing November fields
as the autumn finally yields
to the cloaking of the sky
starkness I cannot deny
As I know all I prove
will be unable to move
either heaven or earth
deliver neither tears nor mirth
So I sit...
covering up the day
with their wispy strands
their gossamer hands
Leaving me to wonder
as I now fear thunder
for what is there to gain
by a more chilling rain
Crossing November fields
as the autumn finally yields
to the cloaking of the sky

As I know all I prove

deliver neither tears nor mirth

Cupric
The copper clouds
are like distant crowds
ever looming
this bronzed blooming
high above
yet far away
still searching for what to say
are like distant crowds
ever looming
this bronzed blooming
high above
yet far away
still searching for what to say

Caribbean Sunrise
The distant light is faint
with an image ever quaint
dark shadows statuesque
dance close on the horizon
Leading the lightening way
celebrating the new day
to a music only they hear
this soft Calypso beat
Meanwhile down below
I feel the steady flow
of the ever swelling tide
its rise then fall
While I converse with the breeze
allowing it to tickle, then tease
this seduction now complete
with words so mango sweet

Clouds
I could forever
spend the day
lying here this way
on a cumulus safari
Watching them pass
above the meadowed grass
in all shapes and sizes
such nimbus surprises
Like a cotton ball
prison break
yet unable to shake
my relentless pursuit
Catching puffy glimpses
of white fluffy chimpses
or an occasional bear
way up in the air
But in the solemn end
I must now defend
my creative...

Blanketed
The sky has much to say
layered in its soft grey
blanketing us
keeping out the autumn sun
Leaving everyone
wondering
peering
for some sliver of golden hope
Some reason to hope
for a clearing of blue
a much more cheery hue
to fill up the October sky
A warming reason why
to carry on the day
carry on this way
not fall into its gloom
Praying there is room
for a final day
full of seaside play
before returning to the concrete
layered in its soft grey
blanketing us
keeping out the autumn sun
Leaving everyone
wondering
peering
for some sliver of golden hope
Some reason to hope
for a clearing of blue
a much more cheery hue
to fill up the October sky
A warming reason why
to carry on the day
carry on this way

Clouds
Pillowy white
at a billowing height
they rule the June sky
triumphant over the sun
Each and every one
sculpted in my mind
leaving the world behind
in their cumulus procession
Perhaps each a confession
a secret wish
an errant deed
only in need of a horse
Signaling a different course
a different way
to pursue the day
catch a changing breeze
Though their pace is slow
they know where to go
how to proceed
before they again recede
at a billowing height
they rule the June sky
triumphant over the sun
Each and every one
sculpted in my mind
leaving the world behind
in their cumulus procession
Perhaps each a confession
a secret wish
an errant deed
only in need of a horse
Signaling a different course
a different way
to pursue the day
catch a changing breeze
Though their pace is slow
they know where to go
how to proceed
before they again recede
