Long Poems About Cancer

I’m Going To Die of Lung Cancer
Woke up dreams in my head
I didn't realize I was dead.
In the dream, I was three,
Why’s that lady touching me?
Then i was a eight years old,
blood dripping in dirty white snow.
Laying on Doctors table,
Stiching my nose, staying quite stable.
At thirteen became a man,
Parents fighting, couldn't understand.
Dad walks out it was winter,
He would never come back for mom’s dinner.
Made it into an art school,
Played harmonica , felt so cool.
Liked girls, but they didn't like me, ...

Illnesses of Mass Destruction
Face to face with life
Am I the blessing or the curse
Weary in the valley
Lost for the temporal beauty of the shadow
Trying to find the words to say it all
Make sense of it and find my peace again
I write letters in a perpetual state of transition
Shouting into the void, the echoes of anguish and hopes that fluctuate between confidence and question
Caught in the in between
Trying to find a sense of home in a world that I don’t belong
Hungry is my exile heart, banished by sabotaged and betrayed affections
As I oscillate between...

Last Sex
Her doctor looked at us both after Susan whispered the question. “Yes, you can still be intimate together. But think of life in terms of weeks from this point on. Treasure each moment.”
Susan looked at me with redness in her eyes. I felt like crying but didn’t.
We acted on the doctor’s orders that very night. Our bedroom was silent except for our breaths, mingling in this space that was ours alone for the last three years. As we made love, it was gentle, a whisper of what we once had. Her eyes were closed.
I placed myself over her carefully and tenderly...

She was a good wife
Married for over 40 years
She was warm, considerate and always willing & able to help someone
Her talent was making beautiful, colorful gardens all around her property
She also donated her time to the arboretum
This year things have been different for her
She was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer
Her ability to work on the yard and create beautiful, majestic gardens have been impossible
She's very ill
She can't maneuver like she use to
Her husband doesn't have a green thumb

In The Arms Of An Angel
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me
Lead me always to the light as my breath at times may become shallow
Bless over my mind when my words are too weak to manifest upon my delayed swallow
Receive me, thy Lord, as the cord of my life returns to the cocoon of my existence
My astral traveling, a star dust in the stratosphere interwoven of many placentas
I have been reborn, may Deja vu moments allow me to connect the...

TIME FLIES AS DO I (11-9-1995; Galveston Island, Texas)
it seems
the later i stay up
each night
the faster time
flys by
insomnia slings me
again and again
centrifugally
like a nocturnal throw of the dice
through a lopsided
elliptical orbit
increasingly further
around and beyond
all common sense and logic
beyond sleep s central
restorative processing experience
into the alchemical digestive enzymes
of tomorrow morning s
now fast approaching
first light
as i sail through these dark slippery...

The Poetry Won’t Bring You Back
Pouring over these former letters
Reactivating the potency of my emotions
How do I keep the memory of you alive
What good is it to look in rearview
I can’t help but reminisce again
When every word is a snapshot from my heart
Writing to commemorate, honor, and ache for you
Another letter, another year, another moment I feel the lack
So many words to express my love
Yet no matter what I say, the poetry won’t bring you back
Speaking like floral arrangements at the grave of another memory
When there’s so much I wish you...

Reaching across this void
On the other side of a reality
Fractures in our perspectives
Brokenness from different points of view
Learning to see eye to eye
In this world of sight that is our blindness
The fight of faith is trained in these trials
As we sojourn on in this world of pain and prolonged miles
Mountains protrude and boast of their glory
But this is just the beginning of your recovery story
What the enemy intends for evil, God will turn to a testimony of truth
He is not the author of the affliction but a...

Investing In A Fabolous You
Okay ladies it is about that time to check your breasts for the month of June, and gentlemen now would be a great time to get a Prostate Exam..
We are official in the summer season, daisy dukes, bikinis, swim parties, beaches, amusement parks, and water parks therefore, let’s make this a healthy summer for all.
Sunscreen lotion for any long-term exposure to the sun

We can go through cancer, my dear!
Don't give up, my dear sunshine;
your pain is like a knife to me,
your weary face expecting times,
when healthy you will be.
You are a hero on a quest
to regain your cozy smile,
and may your eyes find rest
but because they are alive;
beyond the lengthy struggle,
when each second is eternal,
hopeful trouble; gently huggle
me, in my love maternal.
Love that won't give up;
for we will find the root...
when the horror stops
you'll win a fresh route... ...

My cancer superhero
A sudden glimpse of trains is hitting
but the avenue is rainy, colder
than my hopes that, weeping,
give you my homely shoulder.
Years passing in the mirror,
a reflection of a retro car,
is your death approaching near?
My cancer hero superstar.
A nebulae fogging eyes,
fragile guitar resting shyly,
politely my heart ignites
your gentleness but why...him?
You never loved as kindly
yet caressed my hoping face.
A videotape is now rewinding,
after disappearance erased.
Your lengthy hair fell down, ...
