TIME FLIES AS DO I    (11-9-1995; Galveston Island, Texas)

it seems
the later i stay up
each night
the faster time
flys by
insomnia slings me
again and again
like a nocturnal throw of the dice
through a lopsided
elliptical orbit
increasingly further
around and beyond
all common sense and logic
beyond sleep s central
restorative processing experience
into the alchemical digestive enzymes
of tomorrow morning s
now fast approaching
first light
as  i sail through these dark  slippery hours
a lost satelite
erratically orbiting
boundless space and illusory time
in hopes of finding
broader sight s insights
through this vast  timeless slipstream
of night s lost erasure
flying past all known and unknown alike
along the invisible
precarious razor s edge
in a sleep deprived
self destructive gamble
with my own equally precarious
temporal life
where i continue to intentionally
trespass and ignore man s laws
where wild abandon now rules supreme
and societal forbiddens
and old status quo s cultural taboos
increasingly entice
as i ll continue to find out for myself
my own deepest truths
and my own clearer answers
in whatever s left of this
my own present  ongoing life
where even here now
as i keep slipping in and out of
these fleetingly brief moments and minutes
of my broken  intermittent
hypnogogic sleep
i take a quick moment
to kneel to the universe
in a desperately weary beg
and simply begin to
strum out my own tune
note by sweet note
on the all connecting fibers
of this greater  great mystery s
truly ineffable
which my eternal spirit and soul
and everyone
and everything else
that exists
in the immeasurable oneness
of all that is
each and all
inseparably are
one with
the oneness
of all that is
which always
as well
