Thanks for the Read, Sugar Tits - A story of love, lose, and hot pockets.
is it better if you only knew
this book by it's cover?
maybe there's not much story to tell
would you get bored by the backstory?
unimpressed at how simple it all is
or even worse
think I'm some kind of freak
tired of the filler
can we just start with a simple 'hello'?
enjoy each other's company
without there being expectations
feels like each line, each word
is a trail to the end
are there parts you like and dislike?
tear out the pages you don't want
tear out parts of my existence
what can I say to...

a ship of dreams
The ship of dreams
I have never been to Sylhet, Bangladesh it doesn’t matter
it was in May, the rain was relentless, and the last Bengal tigers
had drowned in a flood plain and a famous man had been
buried in a led coffin in the Bay of Bengal.
I had been stuck for a week on an elderly bulk ship while
waiting for scrap iron to fill the hulls, the sad rests of once
proud ship the oceans to be cut to pieces with disregard
of the inanimate that had histories untold.
The grisly irony for the elderly ship, it was her last voyage
she had to return...

clouds and a moment
Clouds and a moment
When a cloud rolled over lake Michigan
cast an eerie spell of otherness over the lake
the stillness was profound when a bird
shrieked in horror.
When the cloud disappeared up yonder
a ferry crossed the lake's undulating water
reached the shore as a wet handshake
of monotony.

Ancient Librarian
Ancient Librarian
A library of tears
collected like raindrops
on shelves made of dust
filled with mothballed love letters
Souls gathered like crows
for Archivists to excavate
From the ruins of time
Where ravens perch
on books dripping ink
Whose liquid wisdom
showers the gentle night.

This moment will just be another story someday
Yesterday a friend told me I remind her of Charlie,
There is no other person I’d rather be.
Watching the lights dance on the ceiling,
Unsure of life’s meaning.
I see the world, all the beauty and pain.
Try to remind myself we aren’t just circling the drain.
Til’ the next one comes along,
Another season, another sad song.
How does one survive without someone to hold,
Begin to feel infinite all on their own?
Would Charlie still listen to Asleep on repeat,
If Sam gave her heart, forever his to keep?

The Time When America SAVED Africa
We don't usually think of World War One as America's finest hour.
For WW1 is simply not that glorious; decisive, or noble.
But if we will only take a new look at WW1,
we can find much to be impressed with !!
We should be grateful that it ended as positively as it did.
The cause of WW1 - what was it ??
The arch duke of Austria'Hungary was assassinated by a Serbian radical.
Austria wanted Serbia to pay for this offense. Germany pushed Aistria to make excessive demands, why ??!!
This next part is often overlooked:
the GERMANS were the ones panting...

the gambler
The gambler
The night, on the other side of the bay, is a spinning roulette
garish, the entrance to the cave of the netherworld
guns and uniforms at the place of iniquity; remove your hat, sir!
The voice is menacing, a hand gripping a gun.
Eyes are dark pools transfixed, much to lose, one spin more
the self-loathing is a frozen grin, the light on the promenade
throws itself into the dark water simulating self-destruction
one more cast of the dice; luck will return
There is no winner in this obscene hunt for the unobtainable ...

So, I did this thing...
I've written a book! It's available in paperback and Kindle formats. Here are the UK and US links. I can obtain links for other countries if you want them... just shout!
UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0B92HCLWH
US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B92HCLWH
I have NO illusions about selling copies, other than to family and close friends. I did it because I wanted and needed to. If I exceed the expected six sales, I'll be over the moon.

The Canterbury Tell Tales!
In my middle year at uni
As one of my options
I chose Chaucer'a Canterbury Tales
Promptly bought my copy of the book
And a few days later
Went for my first lecture
And was happy to see
That most of the other students
Had the same copy as me
As we sat there, awaiting the tutor
A very very short, black bearded man
Entered the lecture room
He looked like
He had just stepped out
Of a set, for Lord Of The Rings
I thought this was interesting
Until he spoke
Then i was a little afraid
I thought bloody hell ...

Lovely romantic thing
I saw Ted there
As Heathcliff
On your moor
Having climbed over
An ancient stone wall
Avoiding the Brontes
For some reason
Unknown to me
Old flames perhaps
Too tender the heart
Or out of respect
For what is given
And what is received
I saw you there too
Running wildly
Through joy & tears
Your dress cold & damp
But flying willingly
In a wicked gale
Of driving rain
And you’re smiling
And he’s laughing
Like the wolf
At & for the fox
Who...

Cézanne Illustrates Carmen’s Diary
Cézanne Illustrates Carmen’s Diary
“My diary is written in liquid words which steam into the mist in maiden eyes whose secrets lack only the brushstrokes of a Cézanne for the words to find a home.”
“I appreciate the compliment but I am a dilettante painter. My art would splash into your script and cover the written memories that are so precious to you.”
“If I lose a jot or two it is of no consequence. Just be careful and do your best. Your pigment on my paper will make my scribbling art. My inking will be anointed by the stain of your palette...
