October Poems 2024 >> to sate sweet sin-sick souls
A poem for each day of the month in which I was born
DAY 20
to sate sweet sin-sick souls
her grave is not her final resting-place,
though clamorous the strain to say goodbye,
life's evidence, shell-shocked without a trace,
where soon this wicked death itself must die.
and has the silence eaten up her zeal?
of non-effect rendered her sex appeal?
where once she kissed, how now unpuckered lips!
and rigor mortis, where once bloomed lithe hips!
does she remember wild october days
with fire...

October Poems 2024 >> love and let live
A poem for each day of the month in which I was born
October 03
love and let live
ambassador of forest, flow’r, and stream,
and bird with sweet songs, wooing wise the wind,
i am a delegate of high esteem,
whose gazette leaves no natural source behind.
if you would move a mountain or a tree,
or freak a feather from a floating wing,
i give judicial judgement, senza fee,
that you may know the measure of my zing:
my parliament, convenient couch to none
who stirs the sleeping lion out of turn,
or aggravates...

October Poems 2024 >> the leap of faith
A Poem for Each Day of the Month in Which I was Born
October 02
the leap of faith
sweet wednesday morn, hopeful, by light of day,
to maximise from minimum its charm,
teach me to fashion wisdom from my clay.
and could i to a blade of grass bring harm,
knowing how delicate and brief his hour,
what, then, could my sobriety defend,
when foxes my own soul seek to devour?
the ebon shades of night may yet portend
a spirit of delusion and regret,
but youthful verve bears buffer in its chide ...

October Poems 2024 >> the countdown
A poem for each day of the month in which I was born
October 07
the countdown
oneself must be abased in one’s own true eyes,
lest one should plummet swiftly from one’s blue skies.
twos days are opportune for dialoguing,
where oneself self-destructs on monologuing
treetops are ripe three-stops for those who journey
with friends, for one may need a rare attorney
to say, not left, nor right, but through the valley,
whose destination boasts a grand finale
four ever-young, the heart transformed by mercy, ...

Seventy-Seventh Birthday
In July of 2013, you died and you went to Heaven.
If you hadn't died, today you would've turned 77.
After taking chemotherapy for months, you died.
You were a great provider and that can't be denied.
When a parent dies, it's always tragic and very sad.
If you were still alive, I'd say "Happy Birthday, Dad".

October Poems 2024 >> october nights
A poem for each day of the month in which I was born
October 10
october nights
october nights are steamy rendezvous
wherein some men, impassioned by stiff booze,
forfeit their balance on the dancing floors
of candle-lighted dens and abattoirs.
october nights are oft a masquerade
for damsels dimpled by demure charade,
whose airs are lofty as the shingled roof
that, in the cutting wind, stands not foolproof.
october nights are pizza feasting days,
when crusts and fillings appetites amaze, ...
